I wrote a script to get UTC time for each blockheight and then plotted monthly stale block counts from historical data. Over the last 6 years (2018-2023), we had an average of just 2.08 stale blocks per month observed in this dataset. image

A hill I'm willing to die on: Commercial seed backup solutions (expensive metal plates) are not only a waste of money, but they're bad at their job All 24 words for a seed should not be kept in a single location. Safu ninja/DIY solutions are easily adaptable to m-of-n solutions. To this end: SeedSigner is overhyped and over-recommended. Using off the shelf hardware is great. Encouraging people to keep a QR code of their seed at home is not great. I don't see where SeedSigner fits into a well architected cold-warm-hot storage system. I don't like to focus on negative aspects of projects, I'd much rather hype alternatives that get me excited, but in this case I continuously get the impression that people misunderstand the risk/benefit profiles and the record needs to be corrected

Listened to most of the first Money Matters podcast while going for a long walk Lots of great discussion about the benefits of building on open protocols by @jack While most business is zero sum and adversarial, there’s an analogy about goodwill that I feel explains the positive sum nature of open protocols. “It’s more like having a lit candle in your hand. This person asks to light his candle from yours, that person asks to light hers. The more candles you light, the brighter it is for everyone -- including you.” Ajaan Fuang Jotiko
