In the living room of the Orange House created by Family Peter Kroll, at Eden Mall on Curaçao we drink 2 Teas (2 T) with our students! We pour the Ts in our Bitcoin cups! These are not ordinary Ts! These are the two Ts of financial literacy. A balance sheet T and an earning statement T!!! You see the Ts? You need this to understand assets and liabilities. You need these Ts (teas) to taste what Fractional Banking is about. Because once you know these two Ts you know where to put your assets and your liabilities (on the balance sheet) and where to put your revenues and your expenditures, on the earnings statement. Every time you enjoy your breakfast you will now think about your Ts. I love teaching our students of My First Bitcoin about how banking works!! And by teaching I learn more! As an economist with a masters degree in economics you would expect me to know how banking works and how savings are invested. Guess what: that is not how it works. Because during lesson 4 of the My First Bitcoin Education Program where we teach about the Fiat System and Fractional Banking I discussed with my students what an asset was and what a liability was. I showed them how banks use your deposits to create more debt. To create money out of nothing and why your liability is their asset. A mortgage A bank loan A credit card I had to start with assets and liabilities to show them how fractional banking works. When I discovered Bitcoin I realized that dream car is a liability. I’m so happy to see the impact that #Bitcoin has in the lives of my students of #MyFirstBitcoin. So I told them they need to come up with and sell me a service or product and I would pay them 1 dollar! With Lightning! Here a student who is a gym coach abd trainer sold me an exercise! And another student sold me a piece of a cake he baked and brought! I go the extra mile teaching My First Bitcoin. On small islands like Curaçao, where almost 25% of the households are considered poor, receiving money is not an option or luxury, it is a neccesity! Not everyone has a bank account! You need 3 past salary slips to get a bank account, and not everybody can provide a formal salary slip! Many people work in the informal sector, in construction, gardening, cleaning houses, cooking, creating crafts. Exporting services online and receiving credit card payments online, through your website is not for everybody. As an online digital coach and trainer I can tell you how difficult it was to get this done! What is money? Explaining to students in the My First Bitcoin 10 weeks Certification Program what money is. We use many games and exercises to teach #Bitcoin. Here you see students trying to barter to the goods they need. They experience there is no coincidence of wants: you are a shoemaker with 1000 shoes and you want fish. And you are a fisherman with 1000 fish and you want bread. Then using silver coins and golden coins that everybody wants makes the trade easier. But wait. When you realize that your golden coins can get debased by clipping them and changing the gold for copper. It all happens through a fast sleigth of hands. Don’t trust anybody, verify.
