I'm being called.

Several hours before being required to verify using government issued documents, I closed my NiceHash account. I made the decision the moment I got an email saying I would eventually have to verify, though it took me a while to do everything I wanted to do before leaving. I'm tired of having to "prove" my identity and my "liveness" to various services because government crooks are demanding it. I have nothing against NiceHash and was sorry to go, but it was time for me to self-host my stuff and this was as good a time as any to do that and move towards self-sufficiency in this regard. My node is going to need regular maintenance, but I think I can now move onto other projects with a certain peace of mind. I'll be taking the rest of the day off and figure out what to focus on next. I've managed to set up a working LN node complete with a LNURL I can receive zaps on! 🍾 The server is running a full #bitcoin node, a #nostr #relay (using @cloud fodder's https://relay.tools/), and a #ln node with #lnbits on top. What a great way to end the week! Happy Sunday everyone!

My self-hosted lnurl still isn't working for some reason, all the transactions are just pending until they expire. Will try to figure it out tomorrow. Good night, #nostr

That feeling when you want to remove a DNS record and then you accidentally delete the whole zone.

I'll be temporarily taking down my relay because I need to reorganize the services I'm running on my servers to be able to host my own ln wallet. I'll likely start in the afternoon today and I have no ETA on when I'll be done. It might take a while, but hopefully I'll finish by November 1.

Question for #nostr about #ln I want to set up my own symbolic ln wallet address on my server. I want to use it to send/receive zaps here on nostr. What lnurl service is good to use out of the box? Tried one but it's got a bug... could fix it but I don't want to get into it that deep (for now). Suggestions?

After a round trip, they will have perceived to have traveled for only 10 months, rather than the 12 months as measured on Earth. These are rough calculations, and based on the average distance traveled by unmanned missions to Mars so far.

Just received an email from the tax collector demanding an explanation for my incomes in 2023. Sent it and the vast majority wasn't even an income, it was just me depositing cash I'd previously withdrawn because I had unforeseen expenses, moving money between accounts, an insurance policy that I'd cashed out, and some returns other people have made to my bank account because I'd bought something for them. And it's not even that big of an income, I'm utterly ashamed to even say how little it was in total. And they say we live in a free world... they can see every transaction I make on my bank accounts.
