Why do you care if other countries are beating you within your own market? At the end of the day, the consumers have the most to gain from free trade. By failing to understand this, you fall into the same trap that the mercantilists have for several centuries.

Being able to pursue your own destiny is critical to convincing people to find the occupations that they get the joy of labor from the most. When such opportunities are removed, labor camps and gulags become a necessity.

Humans act in order to relieve themselves of their uneasiness, whether it be sadness, boredom, hunger, or something else. Praxeology is not concerned with WHY people feel uneasy. That is a job reserved for psychologists. Instead, praxeology is concerned with HOW people end their uneasiness.

Maximum price controls lead to shortages. Minimum price controls lead to unaffordable surpluses.

Absolute advantage means you can produce more of a good than others, but fails to look at how to incentivize people to produce. Comparative advantage means you can produce it at lower opportunity cost, so specialization and trade make everyone better off. It's not about what you can produce the most, but rather what you're the best at. In the end, everyone benefits when skills are allowed to flourish. Quality over quantity.

"The greater productivity of work under the division of labour is a unifying influence. lt leads men to regard each other as comrades in a joint struggle for welfare, rather than as competitors in a struggle for existence. lt makes friends out of enemies, peace out of war, society out of individuals." - Ludwig von Mises, ***Socialism: An Economic and Sociological Analysis*** (1951) p. 294-295 https://mises.org/library/book/socialism-economic-and-sociological-analysis #Agorism #Libertarian #Antistate #AustrianEconomics #Mises #Productivity #DivisionOfLabor #Quotestr

Price controls are bad in their right, but they are the worst when it comes to price controls put on insurance companies because they disincentivize people from engaging in safe and healthy behaviors.

According to Mises, the great proof of a private property-based system was that of the stock market, as it demonstrated the ability of exchange on a massive scale. Such a market would be unable to exist under a central planner.

Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell is the best book to read as a follow-up to MES. It also has plenty of examples of situations that can be used. #Bookstr image

"Socialism, like the old policy from which it emanates, confounds Government and society. And so, every time we object to a thing being done by Government, it concludes that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of education by the State—then we are against education altogether. We object to a State religion—then we would have no religion at all. We object to an equality which is brought about by the State then we are against equality, etc., etc. They might as well accuse us of wishing men not to eat, because we object to the cultivation of corn by the State." - Frédéric Bastiat, "The Law" (1850), ***The Bastiat Collection*** (2007) p. 66-67 https://mises.org/library/book/bastiat-collection #Agorism #Agorist #Libertarian #Antistate #Bastiat #FreeMarket #Voluntaryism #Quotestr

Adam Smith's analogy of the pin factory to explain the division of labor was already good enough in its own right. However, it wasn't until the Austrians expanded on his point through the ideas of human action, dispersed knowledge, price signals, and entrepreneurial spirit that the division of labor was recognized as a critical element of human civilization.

You need to stop using "we" so much. It's collectivist B.S.
