The nationalization of the oil industry has made it prone to the same kind of weakness as any other industry under a central planner. This is the primary reason why conflicts often lead to price inflation. This also isn't the only cause of it, obviously, but it does play a critical role alongside other costs such as tariffs, monetary inflation, and so on. The closer your organization is to the government, the more unstable it will become.

People's valuations are subjective and thus in ordinal rankings i.e first, second, third, etc. Without a way to translate the sum of said valuations into objective cardinal units as prices i.e $1, $2, $3, etc; there is no way to determine which areas are most economically efficient to allocate resources to, leading to consumer demands being unmet. This is the very essence of the ECP that Mises talked about.
