People who argue about "surplus labor" do not understand the concept of time preference. Workers are getting paid weekly because they desire goods earlier in exchange for their labor. Their bosses are paid for capital, which takes much longer than labor. Employers and employees are dealing with the different kinds of risk and impact that labor and capital have, respectively.
