Recently, @npub12s5jvjpmulyx3csf87rszp3udjkcnvgh40trv3ywlu737sq4xj9q07t6jr held a number of interviews to connect @npub1lmn3z6en8fjge8dluypcfeh6l8ja4qdwa7kg23p4anw8gnnewdcs0ysc9n community members with #Bitcoin #FOSS projects. There were a number of insights that are inspiring a new BPC project 🔥 ___ The tl;dr - FOSS projects and contributors have difficulty match making - We interviewed both sides to this hypothesis ⬆️ - We worked to find the “special sauce” - Next step is to create an MVP for Bitcoin FOSS + contributor match making ___ The problem? In our experience, we’ve found that #Bitcoin ers want to contribute to the ecosystem, but don’t know how. And FOSS projects need help, but often don’t know where to find high quality contributors. https://nostr.build/i/c1b5eda714906a404cecf9fc1eb7ea2fbecfbb9dac951fbf6907132af9e6568b.jfif ___ We set out to learn what both sides are looking for. For FOSS projects, they typically want someone to commit 2-6 hours a week to contributing. And, the main areas which needed assistance are marketing, translations, and project & product management. ___ When interviewing members of our community, we saw that most people wanted to commit 5 hours a week. Roughly an hour a day before, or after, their day job. Most members came from a project management background, but some product-focused and marketing professionals were interviewed as well. ___ Likely the biggest insight when interviewing community members was their motivation to contribute. We’ll be building out a FOSS opportunity board in our GitHub repo, where projects can post what areas they need support with. Follow the repo for updates:
