First image of two supermassive black holes in a stable orbit.
Quasar OJ287, 5 billion light years away in Cancer. The large black hole is 18 billion solar masses, while the smaller black hole orbiting it is 150 million solar masses. The smaller black hole completes an orbit every 12 years, through the accretion disc of the larger black hole. Some super-nerds figured that it's orbiting at 6% of the speed of light.

First look at last year's compost under the microscope.
Lot of fungi, fungal spores, a variety of testate amoeba, a few nematodes, and all sorts of dormant stuff. This is the most variety I've seen in a compost sample so far. This compost will be spread on top of the soil and have all winter for the life to move down into the soil and do wonderful things. Fix the soil, fuck the state.

This timeline keeps getting weirder. In the 1998 Nicolas Cage movie Snake Eyes a character named "Charles Kirkland" is assassinated at a live event. And there's more.

"More generally, I think both the utopian and dystopian fantasies of AI are misguided. Both of them see AI as an agent of control. But given how hard it is to produce something specific, and how easy it is to produce something surprising, I think AI is fundamentally an agent of chaos. Which means it can only go so far before it undermines the system that makes it possible." -Ran Prieur, while working on this music video project:
