Funny story about that whole npm compromise. People keep asking how something like that could even happen. What they don’t realize is that working in IT doesn’t automatically mean someone has solid security practices or even basic common sense when it comes to security.
I’ve sat at tables with the so-called "biggest security brains in LATAM" and some of them were out there recommending iPhones with Face ID like it’s some kind of silver bullet.
2FA? “Yeah, it’s fine it’s tied to a phone number.”
And plenty of other dumb takes like that. These are the same people who talk about zero trust all day without actually applying zero trust. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they think zero trust is a tool you install.
