morning stresser... ipad. auto-updated to ios 26. thought i turned auto-updates off... apparently note. went to start working. ipad bricked. stuck in recovery mode. been working on a feature film. storyboarding. months of work. stuck on the device... tried 4 different recovery methods. nothing. have to go in to the apple store... i spent a lot of time working to keep this ipad focused just on work and art. hardened privacy as far as i could. now with this brick... looks like it'll all come undone. have to if i want to retrieve my work. not happy about this. i got the ipad for a couple reasons: 1. i use to have a wacom cintiq that i would take with me on travel. carrying around wires and two monitors is cumbersome. 2. TSA fried my wacom while going through security. pissed me off. 3. wacom also dropped the ball on their digital drawing pen. for the past couple months, i've been working my way towards linux. this brick incident... has me leaning more towards it more than ever. and, other devices like huion, and even wacom, have stepped it up a notch. and cheaper too. kind of done with apple. i use it for work. but now, it's becoming unbearable. even when compartmentalizing devices, the fact that linux still doesn't have pro-grade apps... makes this all the more difficult of a transition. accepting the fact that i will have lost 10 months worth of work due to this botched update. already working on alternatives. but i think i'm done with apple as a work unit.

gm ☕ a growing trend: deleting social media. biggest demo, gen z. another trend: ditching mobile phones. digital minimalism. i watched this video of a guy who ditched his cell phone for a month. entertaining. enlightening. motivating. life moves on. just slower. i'm thinking of doing a 30 day no mobile phone and no social media (even nostr) challenge. just cut it out completely. see where it goes. i think richard stallman would be proud.

Omarchy. Few weeks in. Dig it. Smooth. Clean. Fast. Upgraded Thinkpad. Ram and Storage. Even faster. Go back to my Macbook Pro. Slow. Ugly. Not intuitive. How did I go this like like this?
