Revisiting this for the first time in over a decade. I thought I remembered how astoundingly excellent it is, but it exceeds the expectations of memory. It and Imajica were instrumental in shaping my imagination and kindling my desire to write. Wonderful book. Shortly after discovering Weaveworld and Imajica, I read The Great and Secret Show, and that one changed forever the way that I see the world. Okay, I’ve been lurking in the shadows here for awhile. (Or stuck my head in the sand like a #nostrich.) I guess it’s time for an #introduction. I’m an author, editor, and filmmaker; a voracious reader, a passionate filmgoer, and an occasional hardcore gamer. Also I’m a tech enthusiast excited to watch the future transform into the present, rooting for decentralization and open protocols to take off whenever and wherever possible. I’m very excited by the potential of #Nostr: I’d like to find the niches of this platform that cater to my interests and that are interested in what I have to offer as well. (Yes, this means if you follow me you will have to put up with me marketing my own stuff, haha, but I also actively engage with accounts and posts that are doing things that interest me.) So, from what I can tell in my time there so far, #Threads is just Mastodon with much less functionality (even the app is a carbon copy of Mastodon official), a useless search function that only searches usernames, corporate gatekeepers, an algorithm that boosts who they choose to curate into a nonlinear timeline that rarely shows people you actually follow (doubly problematic without a proper search function), and quote resharing.
