Running a #lightning #node requires your #bitcoin funds to be locked in for the entire period of the channel that is using it. Having more funds means you can open more and bigger channels. Channels smaller than 1 million sats are too small (in our opinion) and thus much harder to make up the costs associated with opening them. If you can't run a lightning node because of lack of funds or for any other reason, at least try to run a bitcoin only node.
