We looked at moving trustroots.org towards federated protocols such as matrix or activitypub. Federation means the user still relies on an individual (or org, which is still one or more individuals) running a server and on domain names. The lack of well-defined profile portability makes such a migration an almost pointless exercise, taking us from centralized to DINO (decentralized in name only).
