The folks who got burned by coldcard have something in common with the folks burned by BIP-110: they placed too much trust in social signals and neglected to do their own independent research to form conclusions.

I need a waterproof notepad to record my shower thoughts upon because I often forget them by the time I get back to a computer.

I really appreciate the Ask Gemini feature on YouTube. When I'm searching for an exact timestamp of when something was said on a lengthy podcast/ presentation, it does a great job finding the quote and saving me the time of having to rewatch the video.

The U.S. Justice Department is prosecuting an American for allegedly providing U.S. border authorities with a passcode that wiped the contents of his phone, according to an indictment and media reports. This is thought to be the first known case in the United States where federal prosecutors have charged someone for the alleged destruction of data using a β€œduress” password built into a phone’s software. The case centers on a feature included in GrapheneOS, a custom Android operating system that runs in place of the software on most modern Google Pixel devices. Tunick’s attorneys confirmed GrapheneOS was running on his phone.

I find the sociological aspects of BIP-110 to be far more interesting than the technical aspects. 110 supporters admit it's not a technical solution; the BIP itself admits it can't stop arbitrary data. But what's fascinating is the Bitcoin Puritans claim they are trying to fix "Bitcoin Culture" at the "social layer" by rejecting "woke Core developers." What's amusing about this is I see little difference between puritans and the woke folk they detest. AFAICT the only distinction is which particular attributes each group uses to select people for cancellation. Fuck woke mobs. Fuck puritan mobs.
