There's a lot to be excited about in the upcoming Postgres 18. My favourite improvements are: βœ… UUID v7 for time-ordered, index-friendly IDs βœ… io_uring for major async I/O improvements βœ… Index skip scans for more efficient queries based on composite indexes #postgres

Unpopular opinion: Instead of teaching sorting algorithms, binary trees, or time complexity, universities should teach things like retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, or observability.
