People in societies where living standards are falling and there are way too many legal regulations always love to yell for "reforms", without realizing that they're just asking for a different set of regulations. The only real, sustainable "reform" would be to roll back a majority of regulations, put faith in citizens' maturity, and punish individual violations of general morality more consistently. After all, the only truly universal moral principle is: "Your freedom only goes as far as it touches someone else's freedom."
But that would take a deep understanding of how things connect, like the way morality shapes people's everyday realities. And as a species, we're nowhere close to that yet. So this cycle of rise, fall, crisis is gonna keep repeating every 80 to 100 years for a good while longer.

The Cassandra Effect
NoorNote's marketplace add-on will occasionally show you some products from the people you follow, if you want. As often as you set it up.
And if a product comes up that you've already bought, you can now write a short review.
And your review gets displayed right on the product page.
And on your timeline.
Of course, only in NoorNote 😏.

Of course, only in NoorNote 😏.Really a good cream, definitely worth recommending. The difference from other fiat products is that you can skip applying it sometimes without it having a negative effect on your skin. It lasts longer, even if you wash your skin with water afterwards.

Some people, especially amateurs, think that real experts are always talking nonstop about their field or staying totally silent. That's only partly true. Most of the time, they fool around like little kids, crack the dirtiest jokes that hit below the belt, or act like they can never be serious. But they can be, when the situation calls for it. Then they speak in a language that sounds like it's from another world. For the rest of the time, though, they're just being silly.
I've been lucky enough to experience this twice, when I got to hang out in those circles. The first time was on a floor full of highly paid doctors, each one a big shot in their area. Guys with 7 titles in their name, like "Prof. John Doe, DSc, PhD..." ("Prof. Dr. rer. nat. rer. nat. ..." in German) The top 1% of their field on their continent. Normal people hang pictures on their walls; these guys had no room left because of all the titles, certificates, and awards.
So I was there, and I had some stuff to do with them for a few days. I figured I'd be sent to some ivory tower where the vibe was all cool and distant with these heavy hitters. Yeah, right. They were like kids. They kept cracking the worst jokes nonstop and messing with each other until it was ridiculous. I had a great time, sometimes with tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.
The second time, in a similar setup, it was exactly the same. These guys don't come across as nerdy. They tell themselves that life is tough enough, so that's reason enough to make it easier. That's not just intelligence; that's wisdom. They've long left behind their phases of needing to show off and now they just try to enjoy life. That's how you spot real experts.
If you want to backup your follows in NoorNote just press 'Backup list to file' and save the JSON file on your hard drive.
If you need to restore it, 'Switch to manual mode', then 'Restore from file', choose your backup file
And the sync it to your relays. Switch back to easy mode afterwards.
You can do that with all your lists, Bookmarks, Mutes and Tribes too.

A lot has changed.
I switched the internal framework from Tauri to Electron. It took several days and was no fun at all. But now the app runs smoother, faster, snappier. Plus, a few Tauri bugs that have been bugging me for a while are fixed. For example, fullscreen videos now work on mobile because Tauri could only use the OS's WebView. Electron uses Chromium. The mobile app has also shrunk from 20MB to 12MB. Damn, which Nostr client is this small and has so many features?
A ton of frontend refactoring and redesign. While everyone else is using some weird Tailwind CSS frameworks, I'm doing Atomic Design UI components with BEM notation. Lots of common constructs got generalized and reused, which means fewer DOM nodes and less CSS. And Mr. npub17veg2gt7ja4dnjhs23jyttvpqlde3ajevlxuumxwghnqmgqwuv4q78cc5z thinks it looks like iOS. I don't have iOS and no idea what iOS looks like right now, so maybe it's just a coincidence?

I've been tweaking the performance too, which is an ongoing task anyway.
Improved a bunch of existing features and fixed bugs, added a few new event kinds, some stuff should display better now.
Improved the addons system even more. If you don't need a certain functionality, just leave the switch off and the code won't load into the app. That keeps the core slim because I don't want to force features on you that you can't or don't want to use. There are 13 addons in total now, more to come. My current favorite: custom emojis.
You can even find other people's custom emoji packs and import some or all into your pack. And then use it as a Like, or inside a note or reply (start typing ':good' to choose from a pulldown list).
Overhauled and better organized the settings area. The client tag is off by default, so whether "via NoorNote" shows up in your note or not is up to you. I'm not that keen on top charts.
You can now write longform articles in focus mode without distractions. npub1xjfd6s75j63r0azyrlvqrag83d34gtp7zk8la2grevpq5xh5llws9lwuey, you wanted something like that. You can also backdate articles now with the published_at field, next to the created_at field. It's optional but recommended. It's kinda for me too, because I'm thinking about porting my articles from my website to Nostr. Google has been screwing us publishers for a long time and doesn't give us any juice anymore.
And a lot of other improvements that I can't list here.
The next thing I have planned is gonna be big. Focused on commerce. It's what I had in mind from the start when I began developing NoorNote. 8 months later, I'm finally there.
And tell me about your feature wishlist. I'll most likely implement everything step by step.
