Nostr is different and needs to stay that way.
We all know that Google are all pervasive online, but I just saw them for the anvil around our neck they are.
I removed one short embedded video from my normie website and swapped it for an image linked to YouTube. So nothing has changed in that readers still have the option to click on the "play" button and YouTube still gets a view.
But what doesn't happen any more is the insane amount of resources to make an embed video play. And no tracking.
Google tube are consuming so much time, energy, money and peace.
They need to stay in their lane. And the public need to disentangle from the matrix and grasp the cost of convenience. The cost of convenience has been really downplayed

Pintura-adelante.es on Nostr sharing tips, tricks and techniques to paint and decorate anything efficiently to the highest standard.
Nostr does social media right. Joined up thinking where you can publish, share and read posts safe from controlling algorithms and advertisers.
Enjoy seamless instant payments built-in to Nostr, a decentralised, encrypted network providing passwordless access to every individual service on a network that will have its own Youtube, Insta and every other online services without the walled gardens and central management nonsense.
Colour picking is probably the most stressful part of the decorating process for most homeowners. It's hard to visualise a new look and mistakes are costly. So most people play safe and stick with what they have or, stress over a new look.
In an attempt to help customers, I look for ways to provide samples. From typical colour cards to large handpainted samples they can stick on doors or walls and see what colours do at different times of day ( the colour you picked in the morning will be different at night...)
And lately, found some technology with benefits. Between advancing AI tech and paint knowledge, there is no need for customers to limit or worry about visualising finishes any more.

Another developer who could earn sats if they were set up.
He helped me, but I cant tip him for his tips. #value4value #circular-economy

This illustrates a basic tenet of painting and #decorating - do the hard parts, the fiddly parts first.
I worked a house #renovation where it took over a month to prepare the ground floor. A week to deadline, not a sign of an end in sight, to the untrained eye, nobody believed I could finish on time. Wrong. It was the most fun painting week, and very satisfying to stand back and hand over the finished article.
It was for a gentleman whose business was taking "finished" apps and polishing them up for global release. He appreciated my approach. Unfortunately I couldn't sell my skills for millions.
Nostr is not just social media, it is an internet of joined up thinking.
Housepainter now has a Nostr website on #npubpro ...
and the question about the Red Feather is still unanswered. 100 sats if you spot the very cool design element that cracks one of wall painting's niggliest stumbling blocks. Adelante

It's called the Red Feather part of the custom #Wooster Sherlock rolling system. It is suede-flock so holds loads of paint and lays it off very smooth. 4.5" long...not particularly unique, but it has something else really useful about it.

That's another potential orange pill ruined.
Tip of the week. It is a good idea to stick a nail in the tip of a nozzle to keep the contents airtight and the nozzle re-usable. It's not a great idea to use a wooden stick instead of a nail in a tube of refractory cement. Ask me how I know!

There's#paint roller sleeves and there's paint roller sleeves.
Do the chemists a favour and try match the right roller sleeve to their paint.
These are mini rollers. The black foam one, the red crushed pile one and the polar bear on the end are 4.5" only, as far as I'm aware.
There are 9" versions of the others and a couple in 14" and 18" too.
If you are painting walls and ceilings, use a mini and a matching larger roller sleeve together. Not only does painting speed go up a level, but the quality of finish too. That's nirvana.
Yet despite these products being around for so long, if you check the paintwork on walls, they are probably rolled to varying degrees of good. But around most door frames, you still see brush marks where the painter didn't use a matching pile mini roller to get right up close to the frame.
Does that aesthetic detail matter in the scheme of things? I'd argue it is quicker for the painter -
- one pass around the frame with a brush, a straight cut but not too concerned about it laying down perfectly
- pass the mini roller over the brush marks to remove the tramlines AND create a 4.5" band of paint around the frame.
- no holds barred now to use a matching 9 or 14" sleeve to roll out the main wall without any concern for getting too close to frames
so yeah, if you value time by money, which is the whole point of #bitcoin as money, it locks in the value of the one thing we don't have much of, time, this little detail is well worth aspiring for.

Hey #asknostr, can someone weigh in on my lightning wallet experience?
I set up #Phoenix wallet as it sounded as close to a hardware wallet as a lightning wallet could be. Still rug pullable but less so than most.
Is that an accurate assessment?
Using Phoenix I learnt a lot about opening channels and liquidity, which is hidden from view on every other wallet I have used. So that is useful. And I can't imagine more than 1 in 100 noobs bothering to go that root.
Another observation, it seems to be more expensive to make transactions than on the usual non custodial wallets. Is this a fault with my setup, or is an advantage of non custodial providers that they can provide a cheap service because of scale?
What's up with Bolt 12? Phoenix offers a permanent Bolt 12 lightning option which sounds ideal for businesses. But I used Muun, blink, Speed wallet,Yakihonne and no go. Am I early or has that innovation moved on?
Coinos has a really slick set up for a permanent lightning address for a business website. I have gone with that for tip payments and will move any balances across to Phoenix for "self sovereign storage". Is that the way?
Thanks
Falang is a very well considered multi language plugin for #wordpress
Complete control of translated versions of original posts, IE you have the option to keep Google Translate well away from your website.
But it isn't perfect, at least not in my experience.
I am looking for a wordpress #Dev out there who knows their way around WP to solve a few small issues.
Don't shoot me, I have a ghost site on npubpro, but no way could I get my head around setting up the WP equivalent site on nostr. One day. #asknostr
This super simple hand sander revolutionised the #painting industry. Not just because it works so well, but because it is the Trojan Horse to demonstrate to skeptical tradesmen and -women how good #Abranet abrasives are with a dust extraction system.
A 20€ sander attached to a bog standard vacuum cleaner almost certainly paved the way for a lifetime of #Mirka and #Festool power tool purchases.Nostr has a problem. Whilst the npubs are unique, the usernames are not. Who's going to bother to check the Derek Ross list to find the bonafide one? I had a good question too.
The answer to the last question was "tack rag".
A muslin type cloth impregnated with slow drying oil that attracts the finest surface dust prior to #painting.
Next question #asknostr What is the material next to the tack rag?
#askahousepainter

What is this? Answers on a postcard. #asknostr

Another exciting installment of painting. Profile steel frames
.
Clean off grease with solvent suitable for cleaning tools.
Abrade lightly with abranet 120 grade.
Wipe over surface with a tack rag.
Roll on a coat of Oxiron rust inhibiting hammer finish.
Remember to check it isn't water borne like the last metal paint delivered. That is it. 10 years protection against surface rust,as long as the paintwork isn't damaged.
