The mistake I see people make around the current free trade and tariff talk is they think we are trading our worthless dollars for goods/services, so who cares, let them have the dollars, we'll take the cheap goods.
But we are not. We are trading our country's assets (business/land/housing) for cheap goods. They accept the dollars then turn around and buy our assets because they don't want our goods/services, and they don't want our dollars.
America hasn't been "open for business" the last 50 years, America has been "for sale"
