What a productive day. I’ve been so impressed with what Nostr can do that I just deployed a private relay on OpenBSD.
It’s not exactly plug-and-play, setting it up on a fresh OS requires some manual tweaking and configuration. But it’s absolutely worth it for the end result: complete data sovereignty.
Here’s the OpenBSD stack I’m running:
• pf Firewall: Only ports 22 (rate-limited), 80, and 443 exposed
• relayd: Automatic SSL/TLS management & traffic splitting
• httpd: NIP-05 verification & static site hosting
• Private Nostr Relay: Fully isolated and managed via rcctl
Tightly locked down and fully independent. Your Nostr notes truly belong on your own server.
