Café quality at home, especially when paired with fresh, high quality beans. It’s one of life’s small joys that really makes a difference. #espresso

I found my error. The BIP-110 count resets every 2,016 blocks. Not a bug, just a tricky UI quirk for new noobs like me 🤦‍♂️ View quoted note →

Just noticed a potential bug, the BIP-110 counter seems to have reset to zero. Seems like a state synchronization issue. Anyone else seeing this? #BIP110 #Knots image

My daughter just started GirlsWhoCode and is diving into Python and Java. I refurbished my old dev beast: a 2015 MacBook Pro 15”. Swapped out the battery, gave it a clean, and prepped it for her experiments with local inference and coding. It brought back so many nostalgic memories. The keyboard on this thing is perfect. There is nothing like it anymore. I would pay in a heartbeat to have this exact typing experience with deep travel, tactile feedback and sound on a modern shell.

I’ve got a Bitcoin Knots node up and getting ready to run Lightning node. Has anyone else tried running Lightning Core with Knots? Are there better complementary lightning nodes you’d recommend? #OpenBSD #BitcoinKnots #LightningCore

Best decision our family made this year was moving from the city to the countryside. The positive uplift to mental health has been incredible. So worth it!

Bitcoin Knots, officially unsupported on OpenBSD, running like a champ. Even accepting inbound. Core is the default, not a requirement. Stock Knots shares Core’s consensus and differs on policy. It hands you control of the mempool: datacarrier=0, stricter datacarriersize, permitbaremultisig=0. Core v30 raised the OP_RETURN cap to 100,000 bytes, inviting spam and bible verses on the chain. Knots keeps the filter. But it also lets you go further. consensusrules=rdts enforces BIP-110: OP_RETURN back to 83 bytes at the consensus layer, not as a relay suggestion. No bloat by default. #bitcoinknots #OpenBSD #RDTS #BIP110

Small correction, knots do not enable BIP-110 by default, it requires explicit consensusrules=rdts entry in bitcoin.conf View quoted note →

Good to see a full node broadcasting the REDUCED_DATA service flag. Knots is advertising its BIP-110 stance to peers. image View quoted note →

GM! 31 days of active Nostr usage. I love it. It’s weird, it’s quirky, and it’s a net positive for freedom consciousness in my life. It gives those early Twitter vibes, minus the algorithm, monetization, and major AI slop. To paraphrase Heraclitus: You can never step into the same Nostr twice. It is not the same Nostr, and you are not the same person. #nostr image

Switched this node to Knots and re-downloaded the whole chain to take a stance against non-monetary data. The sync just finished…876 GB on a 1 TB drive. Synced on day one, 46 GB to spare. Two years of blocks heavy with inscriptions and embedded files that have nothing to do with money, and an archival node carries every byte. The cost of storing arbitrary data doesn't land on the people creating the load. It lands on node operators: more disk, more memory, more barrier to entry. And this network's security rests on ordinary people. being able to run their own node. I know which side of that I'm on. #Bitcoin #Knots #BIP110 #OpenBSD image View quoted note →

Including non-monetary data in Bitcoin’s blockchain is a serious mistake, and Bitcoin Core enabling it only makes it worse. Using the world’s most secure and most expensive monetary ledger to store JPEGs or memecoin code wastes a genuinely scarce resource. This becomes obvious the moment you run a node under real memory or storage constraints. Left unchecked, non-financial data inflates blocks, adds CPU overhead, and bloats the chain that every node has to carry. I originally compiled it using Bitcoin Core version on OpenBSD, but now switched to Knots and re-downloading full chain to take a philosophical stance. #openBSD #Knots #BitcoinNode
