Been busy these past few days. Snow storm is coming to the South & everyone is losing their minds. It seems many still remember the hurricane we suffered so may are prepping. I usually find myself falling back on simplistic terms that one generally uses when it comes to sci-fi and or fantasy. Failing that I’ll find myself modifying descriptors from other authors who write in the field. I do my best not to invent words like “certain” writers. 😈

Romance scenes. It’s one thing to explain the actions in a sense but to go overly deep into it (be it emotions or physical acts) when it isn’t exactly the focus of the genre itself, can drag things out. Debating on stopping all specific hashtag posting I take part in. Hardly anyone really joins in and the ones who started particular hashtags have moved on from them. Even if I mean to use them for indexing purposes is there really a point? Just a thought.

Grooming habits with characters. I’ve found fewer and fewer stories that seem to touch on this. As if they don’t have a morning routine, go to the bathroom, describe how they feel when the have to wear a certain outfit or hairstyle. A tough one. I actually enjoy it when a sci-fi/fantasy story over explains their methods. For me it helps to better understand how things work/differs from others in the genre.
