We have #germination with the broccoli. We’ve had drizzling rain today, so it was also a good time to sow some #wildflower seed in the flower beds. #grownostr #garden

Damnit now #ZBD got me locked out. This was an easy way to stack hundreds of sats a week. Funny thing is, I’m not even in these unsupported regions. image

Whoo, the weekend warrior kicked in this weekend. Today- transplanted a couple Oak trees from the woods to the front yard. Sprinkled some cover crop seed around the front flower beds to try and inhibit the encroaching Bermuda grass. Mulched some of the garden pathways. Added cover crop seed to the raised beds (way late). Split up some comfrey and planted along the garden edge where the grass meets the garden. Trying to take more preventative steps to hold back the Bermuda. Saturday- planted a plot of carrots and put some hay bales around to make a mini greenhouse. Planted some snap peas next to them with a clear plastic tote over them to protect from frost. Planted 2 Bing cherry trees and an Asian pear. Attempted grafting the Asian pear on some of the other pears. Started some flower seeds the kids picked out. I let them do most of the work so they can get some exp in the process. Started black locust seeds. I am WHOOPED! #garden #homestead #permies

Just realized I’m a moron sometimes. So the “native pear” I grafted into is actually a native peach. Oklahoma doesn’t have a native pear. I was so exideted to try grafting that I totally brain farted. That said, If I were a betting man, I’d say 2 of these grafts aren’t going to take. Good to laugh at yourself 😜🤪🤣 #doh View quoted note →

Gotta love posting 2 notes because you don’t see the original went through.

Taking a shot at #grafting Asian #pear scion wood today. I’m trying on a few different pear cultivars. A native pear, Bartlett, and a Keifer. This is a learning exp for me as I’ve never attempted before. It may be too early in the season for sap to be flowing but I wanted to give it a shot anyways. #foodforest #grownostr #fruittrees #homesteading
