When I was in school. I hated history. It was taught through memorizing names and dates, both of which I am terrible. I did have one good history teacher who brought American History Alive. One thing he did, probably to allow himself to cover both sides of some divisive subjects like evolution/creation and abortion, was to have trials. One student was assigned as judge. Three students were assigned to be lawyers for the 2 sides. The rest of the class were the jury. The lawyers had to research and stand up and debate the issue. I learned more in that history class than in all of the others combined. We can learn so much from history.
