I keep hearing about people's lightning nodes having to force close things and it sounds like they are losing a lot of sats somehow. Is that right? Is lightning somehow a fucked protocol? Please forgive and correct my ignorance on this topic. I'm interested not in the gory details, nor summary opinions, but in correct succinct explanations.
I know you all love bitcoin. But what are you going to do when all your computers are owned by state-level intelligence actors during the more active part of WW3 which is on our doorstep, and whichi I believe will be massively cyber? Your computer will be serving them moreso than you and personally I'm considering turning off and unplugging all my computers for the duration. We had 30 years to fix the situation, but we didn't. It just got worse. I worked with companies like RST (Reliable Software Technologies), with research projects proving correctness of software with HAL at UC Davis and culminating in proving an OS correct (seL4), and I cottoned onto rust as soon as I heard about it and yes I was one of the annoying people who said we need to rebuild everything in rust because I believe it clearly yields far fewer exploitable bugs. But we didn't. And we have more security holes now than ever, in damn near everything including more and more in the hardware. I'm paranoid right now. Damn Apple computer taking control away from me, greying out switches, refusing to shut down. Not cool.
Wow, Apple Intelligence is something else! I did a sytem update on my Mac and it installed updates. Then it rebooted and said Apple Intelligence. So I went into settings, went to Apple Intelligence, and turned off the switch. The switch turned itself back on and greyed itself out. Clicking it does nothing. Intelligence updates are still downloading. Also the red X in the upper left of the window greyed out. I can't close the settings panel. I think SkyNet just owned my Mac.
