Those “religious-liberty sanctions” that a Texas judge ordered aren’t gone. In fact, they are set to go back into effect on Sunday. Thus far, the 5th Circuit hasn’t even responded to Southwest Airlines request about the “unprecedented and unlawful” order. image

#SCOTUS note: There are two Alabama redistricting filings — one in the three-judge case (23A231) and one from the one-judge case (23A241). The different underlying cases lead to different procedural requests at SCOTUS, but the court is almost certain to consider them together. Background at Law Dork here:

I broke the news last night that Blount County, Tennessee’s prosecutor, Ryan Desmond, is threatening this weekend’s pride event with enforcement of the TN anti-drag law that a federal judge in a case out of Shelby County has said is unconstitutional.

Trans people are under attack, with government laws that take away their rights. For some, the pushback against that hate is the problem. “Compromise” is needed, and “aggressiveness” is a problem. This is a dangerous path, and I address it at Law Dork.
