We ended up with this super worn turret lathe a few years back for $500 and used it for a few small bushing jobs that more than paid for the machine. I decided that justified fixing it up so i pulled it all apart and brushed/picked about 70 years worth of grease and chips out of every crevasse. Redid some electrical, put on some new belts, adjusted all the gibs, re greased everything and now painting it and getting it all back together. Always fun to bring something new life. #makestr #fabricator #rebuild #trashtotreasure #machine image

I think I found my table top in the boards. Now to plane it all to thickness and join it. I'm thinking biscuits and pva for the center and slot mortise with dowels for the endcaps to allow the opposing thermal expansion image some slack. Hopefully that makes for a long lasting top. I'll use black epoxy to fill the voids. Finish size will be 72x38. #Woodworking #craftsman #joinery #makestr #art

That's a big museum box. Tried some new stuff and ended up with crystal clear welds. Very happy with how this one turned out. Nearly 4'x8'x2' out of 3/8 cast acrylic.

I really gotta talk the boss man into buying a CNC lathe. Doing this on a manual was tedious. HDPE bushings. All tolerances within .005" (at least until it goes somewhere warmer or cooler) #maker #mechanicals #tradesman image

Built a #wedding arch out of Douglas Fir. No fasteners. All #joinery. T- bridle on top, mortise and tenon for upright to base, slot mortise for 45° supports and lap joint for the base. Fun #project and now I want to try building a timber frame barn lol. Also.... I really want a mortiser. Doing that with a chisel was super time consuming. #makestr #woodworking #craftsman

I had a very intetesting project come in that required some creativity in producing. The customer required an 8' panel with a 3" radius bend to fit in a dado. I built a form to control the radius then took some cal rod heaters to heat the material. The radius was so wide that it couldn't evenly heat the material, leaving 3 individual bend lines and a very unsatisfactory result. Solution? Ceramic flooring tiles spread down the length. Worked a charm to get the job done. Part turned out beautifully. Only issue.... almost burned down the table. I'll have to solve that problem if I ever stumble my way into another similar project.

Making a #chessboard a different way than normal. Turning out kinda cool. Filled the pockets with sand and rocks then flooded with a lightly green tinted #epoxy.

Can confirm. I've done a lot in my life and out of every experience and accomplishment the one I wouldn't ever give back is raising my children.

image Finally got some spare time and took it to get a bit more organized. Cut the foam on my #laser and now my stair tread fixture is in a nice carry case instead of thrown in a bucket. I think I might do this for more of my #tools. #woodworking #maker #makestr

Enjoyed good bourbon and great conversation last night with a friend. image
First go at a #chessboard. Just got done pouring epoxy. I think this thing is gonna be a winner. Making for a coworker who has a set of #chess peices but no board to match. Wood is african anigre. I'll be constructing the border out of the same. Now for the week long wait before breaking it out of the form so I can surface, frame and polish. image
Made another one. Maple, walnut, cherry, hickory, spalted elm and ash. #woodworking
