Since I work from home from a computer, Saturday's tasks of cooking, tidying, washing, mowing lawns, and fixing things are a welcome relief.
Has anyone else read that physical leisure has high quality of life returns for office workers? Likewise the opposite is true: a man who works hard physically finds it most restful and streas-relievinf to read, study, or otherwise engage his mind as a hobby during his off-hours.
T.S. Elliot opined: "variety is the spice of life."

I'm using the Primal beta .APK file for android. it nicely organizes global into popular hashtags for easier discoverability. I intend to use more hashtags consistently going forward. #psychology could use some contributions, and I recognize I'm uniquely equipped as a professional to add to that conversation.
Avoidance pays off short-term. It is a pathway to misery and regret.
Pursuit, even if it hurts, will yield the outcomes you hope avoidance will bring.

What's the best android client for nostr these days? I use Iris but also Amethyst sometimes now.
What's up this evening, Nostriches? How do you do?
What's something you're thankful for today?
Oh yeah, that's the good stuff. ๐

Man is all the things woman is not. Woman is all the things that man is not.
So many stories of people hurting financially out there
Have you guys seen the new firmware update for the worldcoin orbs? Pretty cool.

Guys, I've been meaning to write this for a bit but I'm coming out as a worldcoiner.
The klaus schwaub orbs are just to cool and I love centralization, with so many historical examples of central planning ending in utopia. I don't use my freedom for good anyway and now the WEF in their prophetic wisdom can save the world and look after me too.
Remember, O man, that you are dust, and to dust you will return.

Y'all need more of this in your life.
Do you think that you can think your way out of dysfunctional thinking (anxiety/depressive thought disorders et. al)? ๐ง ๐ญ
Many people do. โ
If your thinker is what's broken, thinking it through or even speaking out your thoughts out to a good listener alone won't be enough.
Despite popular expectations, your typical therapist who primarily validates and affirms as treatment methods is simply parasitic. They are reinforcing behaviours and thought patterns that produce misery. This approach is lucrative and makes customers for life, but it is sick and hateful. Coming from a therapy insider, if you sincerely want to see positive change in your mental health you need to:
โข Observe your thoughts as process and assess them flexibly by their helpfulness. Cling to the thoughts that help. Dismiss the merit of, but accept the presence of unhelpful thoughts. You cant change thoughts by wrestling with them. You will probably just amplify them by struggling.
โข Get out and action behaviours that improve your mood such as getting sunlight, seeing loved ones, lifting weights, kissing your wife, doing what matters. Discover what matters to you, and make daily time for that stuff.
โข Eat better and master yourself. Get to bed and wake up responsibly; do something meaningful with your life. Stop wasting the day away. Life is short, make it count. ๐ค
Don't dismiss the legitimate use of a thing simply because it's commonly misused.
Does anyone else admire some of the technical programming conversations going on here? I wonder how much I'm learning by observation and osmosis.
The most ambitious coding thing I've done is launched, troubleshooted, and frequently repaired an Umbrel node + open and maintain lightning channels on Linux. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
It's good to admire high skill in others in the domains we ourselves lack.
Mental health hygiene steps (or, checklist of things you should action before you seek a psychotherapist) โ
1. Sleep hygiene - regular, ritualized pre-bed routine, going down and rising at the same time. This is good, and will get easier with time as you action other items.
2. Adequate and regular nutrition. Cut the seed oil and fiat food. Eat the stuff that was good enough for your ancestors.
3. Drink enough fluids throughout the day - water too. In fact, get a reverse osmosis filter installed so you don't have to drink your neighbours' expelled SSRIs and oral contraceptives, which isn't helping your testosterone, which is your go-get 'em and hold-your-head-high hormone.
4. Do what matters. Seriously, do it. Your mind will hound you if you don't, and you will be pleased if you do. Give yourself dopamine by accomplishing goals.
5. Get sunlight. It's good for you. Vitamin D is metabolized by it and it has a critical function on mood and cognitive functioning.
6. Cut down on or cut out unnecessary medications or psychoactive substances. If these are recreational, be especially on guard that you use these things to escape from your life and problems.
7. Stop avoidance. Face your problems like a man, like you are, and like your mind is actually trying to get you to do through the process of giving you anxiety, the action potential, survival-focused problem-solving response of the body.
8. Spend time with people, in person. You are a social creature. Especially choose good and genuine companions that you aspire to be like. Especially choose cognitively-flexible people, they will model their behaviour to you and you will catch it and emulate it.
9. Exercise. You are not just a brain on a stick, and if your mind isn't functioning well, it might just be that your body is protesting your recent habit of behavioural choices. Lift some weights, and get out and walk. There's a whole world out there and your muscles are meant to be used.
10. Accept, don't struggle what you can't change, even if you don't like it. Struggle is futile and just leaves you frustrated and problem-centred and stuck rather than solution-focused and adapting.

Therapists that insert themselves into the social network of their clients as cheerleader-for-hire are cruel and sadistic manipulators. They may not realize it, but they parasitize upon the weak and hate rather than love their clients. This method of care doesn't result in patient independence, it creates an expensive addiction not much better than a chemical one.
People stuck in struggle don't need more shallow affirmations to accept dysfunctional aspects of their lives: they need freedom from bondage. They came to these therapists looking for an expert to bring change to what needs fixing.
Think: We need both the love of a mother and the love of a father. We need a mother's doting and tender counter-conditional love, but we also need the push of expectations and behaviour modelling - both positive and negative discipline to prosper as a person in the world. Any one of these alone is not enough.
We all know too many sons and daughters that live their lives short of their own high potential because of too much of this pseudo-mothering "therapy". Enough is enough. Delusion affirmation is not sufficient psychological treatment.
If you guys wanna know what makes for cognitive flexibility - the skills that account for psychological/behavioural flourishing, look no further than the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy hexagon. ACT psychotherapy targets skill-building and modelling in exactly these critical domains. #Psychology
We suffer when we don't do what's right and what matters. Our mind won't give us peace, and it becomes hard to look in the mirror.
