I found some audio issues with this week’s episode during my playback so I’m fixing those up and then we’ll have episode 120 published shortly. Sorry about the delay!

Happy Fathers Day from the farm!

If you’ve ever wondered what a teenage rooster sounds like, well here you go.

This is the heart of the chicken coop automation (work in progress pic). The goal is to go on a road trip for a week or two, and nothing dies. This box manages three separate networks, including a backup LTE connection. It runs Home Assistant and Frigate DVR. All the sensors and feeding water door automations either run over Z-wave or Wi-Fi. So far rock solid, I’ll get into the details in LINUX Unplugged this week.

We have the chickens moved out into their own run for just over two weeks now. Fully automated with Home Assistant, and monitored with Frigate DVR. It’s a great setup. What’s really mind blowing is just how fast they grow. They seem so big now, but they’re not done yet!

101 is out a bit early this week, pickup up speed with some production, efficiency improvements! 😎 Enjoy! 🍻

How are they already so cool?

Our sick chick seems to be doing better. And the other chicks are thriving. Still giving velociraptor tho..

Rounding out week two with baby chicks, and they've easily doubled in size. But two of our chicks seem to be struggling and are sick. We're nursing them and have them separated from the others, but they can't stand or walk very well. Hoping they pull through. We have them on electrolytes and meds, so hopefully in a day or so, we will see an improvement.

New TWiB is out: A break from format to talk about managing a Bitcoin and Lightning note in 2026, and what’s changed. I’m joined by some very special guests too, enjoy! 🍻

Mind blown by the Meshtastic node density around here! Just staring at the map and regretting not bringing a node to Victoria Island. I could've easily messaged my home across the water. Now that I've got Meshtastic integrated with Home Assistant, the possibilities are wild: private mesh channels to trigger automations remotely. Garden watering, off-grid smart home controls... all over decentralized LoRa mesh. 2026 is going to be fun. #Meshtastic #HomeAssistant #OffGrid

Brands are about to ditch human influencers for purpose built AI ones. Real looking faces, zero drama, endless content. Short-form video creators: you’re cooked. I think most Podcasts will be safe from this. What do you think? I'll cover your replies tomorrow on The Launch 🚀

I’ve definitely gotten some pushback for my take on BIP-444. But I still haven’t gotten any answers to two basic questions: 1. Who will monitor the blockchain? 2. Who decides when action is needed?

Fresh TWiB! Last week, I asked if the US government shutdown was impacting Bitcoin. Boy did I get my answer! Also thought on BIP-444, the supposed whale selling, and more. Enjoy! 🍻
