Just saw this: https://lnscribe.xyz/ I mean, it's cooler than a picture. If there is a reason why you would want this data to be uncensorable? Perhaps you are running your node in a location that can get raided while you are at work? Idunno. But likely much smaller than image files.

I know that user retention hasn't been the best lately. I feel it's due to people that would be interested in certain selling points such as censorship resistance were early adopters, most don't care so much, most are affected by the chicken and the egg problem of wanting to be where their friends are. I think we were given a huge gift in Elon stepping down as I can picture Elon stan memelords loving this place, (and loving their memes getting zapped. I imagine CEO Irene, who's name might as well be Karen will disenfranchise a far larger amount of people than was ever shadowbanned under previous administration's, and while Elon pushed libs to Bluesky, she's gonna push people to Nostr, at least that's my hope. In general, much like something else I love, there will be short-term volatility, but as long as it doesn't die, (and good luck trying to kill it) it will only get bigger.

What about a Nostr client with a custodial wallet that displays your sats in USD? It would still be zapping normal Lightning, it wouldn't be Taro or stablesats, it just would display it like that. (Although i guess they might be like "why did my money reduce 40%?") It might look kinda dumb because $.000015 or something but they could just think it's dollars and crypto-adverse folks would just think they are sending micropayments. Somehow there would have to be a way to 'cashout' though. And that's where the issue is, fiat sucks. Maybe through cashapp or strike.

Sorry for posting a Twitter link, but in case nobody else has, It's Tucker Carlson admitting that being a major television news anchor, (or I guess even in his case, infotainment) is synonymous with lying (or at least misleading) and he has done so his entire career. Says Twitter is the last place free speech still exists, lol. (Releases this on day Elon replaces himself?) But Says news networks on Twitter are still dishonest. Looks like he is relaunching, in a new form on Twitter.

Elon Stepped Down as CEO, appointing Linda Yaccarino. People accusing her of being a Lefty, but she's an above-politics-globalist. She's worked for Trump, Biden and the WEF. What political party is she? The one holding office. However, Elon was mostly bullish for Bluesky, pushing out the libs who need their safe space. This might be bullish for Nostr, as free-speech related banning may ramp up. image

I was like ...? There's a Mastodon-Nostr Bridge. That's what's going on here. image

Just heard about on the Nostrovia podcast (if you don't listen to it yet, listen to it.) A 3D cyberspace client allowing the user a vastly different way of exploring this open protocol. It is very much still in the early stages. I highly recommend listening to the episode to see the vision.

As you can see in chart, first no inscriptions. Then it shoots up to over 2.4MB when inscriptions cause the blocksize to stretch. Now, this is a double edged sword. Casey made the image inscriptions fit in the witness data area NOT to take advantage of the witness discount (as some people say) but to be prunable AND to stay out of the way of monetary transactions, by causing blocksize to stretch rather than take up space. This is why the big blocks are around here in the middle of the chart. But then the blocksize decreases near the end of the chart. At the present, the chart ends with the average around 1.6MB. What gives? Well, the image inscriptions Casey designed NOT to be intrusive started being replaced by text based inscriptions, at first .sats names, (a kind of dns type thing) and then brc-20s. These seem to NOT stretch blocks, and DO take up space monetary transactions would fill, displacing them (unless, of course they outbid them.) The more monetary users outbid them, the more jpeg inscribed became text-based inscribers (because images were priced out). The more text-based inscriptions, the higher the fees. Endless Cycle? image

Avg fees as a percentage of total block reward right now is over 16%. Pretty awesome, numbers like this usually only happen when the NGU starts to cook more. I know a lot of people like to say inscriptions don't pay their share (and maybe they don't) but, it has caused this to happen. And because of them, we likely won't really have empty blocks anymore. These things make me more confident than ever when people try to fud us about the long-term viability of Bitcoin's security budget WITHOUT a tail-emission policy. 21 million is non-negotiable. image

In case you missed it, supertestnet 'broke' the inscriptions numbering system (different than ordinals numbering system, and has broke once already) by inscribing a 0-value utxo. This caused an off-by-one situation. it was a non-standard transaction so it was submitted to a miner to include in a block. He also released it to anyone else who wants to try it. The inscription said "you will use soma and you will like it" being a reference not to the brave new world drug but a implementation of a spacechain a kind of one way peg-in Bitcoin sidechain.

The word Nostr appears in text form on the Bitcoin blockchain 11 times. 10 times in op_ returns. 1 in an inscription. https://preturnio.com/ Preturnio allows you to search the Bitcoin blockchain for text, which occurs 3 places now. -Coinbase transactions, like the original Genesis Block. -Op_returns, an unspeakable opcode for arbitrary data. Once 10,000 bytes until 2014, then 40 bytes, then 80 in 2016 -And finally inscriptions, which is growingly not just images, but more often JSON scripts for brc-20s and .sats names. (A couple of days ago, since fees have been high lately an image of a bored ape took $138 to mint. 1million BRC-20 tokens took 74 cents. Goes to show you how much smaller a few bytes of code is in comparison to an image.) This is pretty useful since there is no central registry for who got what .sats name, or no block explorer, so if you need to find the pepecoin history, you best bet is just searching the ticker here. Give it a try!

Bitcoin Dominance is back up to 48 and a fraction. It's local low was 39.11 on 9/6/22. Near the top of the peak on the left, the Luna Collapse occurred. We are now in a better situation than the other side of this valley, when Do Kwon held our fates, at least of the price. image

In Amethyst, do the relays arrange themselves in order of how.... good they are? I have 26 now, I'm wondering if that's too many. Amethyst is starting to crash on me and I'm wondering if that's why.

So, check this out. On nostrDotinfo these two relays are ABSOLUTELY dominating these are in the 20's-30Thousands. one other is at 2k, all others are in the 200's or less. I tried the top one of the two, it went right to the top of my relays in Amethyst, and it looks like info has gotten uploaded and downloaded in its row, so I guess it's not a paid one. image
