Hah. Every time I comment on the New York Times site with a critique of their coverage, they reject my comment. It’s a pattern. If I only comment on the article topic, it’s always accepted. But if my comment includes a critique of their angle or how they’re covering something, it’s rejected every time. I suppose it’s their right, it’s their website. But it’s a thin-skinned, disingenuous approach to journalism.

Some public infrastructure works great. I just drove from Denver to Chicago and every public rest stop in Nebraska and Iowa was spotless and very nice. Meanwhile, every gas station or fast food bathroom was disgusting.

I like Jon Stewart a lot, but this is one of the most un-curious, willfully ignorant conversations on bitcoin that I’ve ever heard. Ben McKenzie is a giant moron.

I find John Carreyrou’s investigation into identifying Adam Back as Satoshi Nakamoto very convincing. However, I feel terrible for Back, because whether or not he is truly Nakamoto, his life has now been turned upside down. He will be investigated by others and he will be targeted by malicious actors. I also regret that John Carreyrou and everyone else that works at the New York Times have never put the same level of energy into understanding bitcoin as they have to “unmask” Satoshi Nakamoto. They have a 17 year track record of terrible reporting on bitcoin, always lumping it in with the rest of the crypto industry and framing flat out falsehoods as objective facts. Even in their reporting on Back, they demonstrate minimal to zero understanding of what makes bitcoin different than every other crypto currency.

I listened to an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast yesterday and I don’t get the appeal. He’s clearly getting the large majority of his news from Twitter. And because of that he’s a victim of the Twitter hive mind that thinks they are ahead of the mainstream and believe they have access to inside information. He said 10 ridiculous things in 10 minutes. Like any armchair expert. One episode pretty much confirmed what I already thought about him - good talker that often doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
