2024 was wild. In Chicago we saw a near total solar eclipse (95% zone), the convergence of the 17 & 13 year Cicada hatch (felt apocalyptic). Several nights of Aurora Borealis through the year. A Blue Moon/Super Moon. A partial lunar eclipse. And $100K Bitcoin.
First two years on Nostr, I’ve gone long stretches without checking in. And TBH, as a relative newcomer to bitcoin (late 2020) I never felt I had much value to add to the conversation.
But now that I’ve held through a full 4 year cycle it does feel like I’ve graduated.
And I’m looking to get more involved.
@Marty Bent@ODELL On the latest RHR, you played an out of context judiciary hearing clip and claimed there were two Supreme Court nominees being discussed. You actually said it was the nominee to replace RGB. A quick google search would tell you that vacancy was filled by Amy Coney Barrett in 2021. It was highly controversial because she was appointed after Trump lost the election, before Biden was sworn in.
There are currently no openings on the Supreme Court. So, probably not your best material for making “clown world” points.
Have been reading a lot and listening to podcasts about AI. Mostly, it’s quite scary. An arms race between tech companies and none of them understand how their own AI models even work.
So it’s led me to wonder, if AI takes over, what does that mean for Bitcoin? Is Bitcoin’s cryptography strong enough to withstand an AI hive mind? I have no doubt that a self-aware AGI model could take over all electronic fiat banking if it wanted to.
(Maybe it doesn’t matter because if an AGI decided it would be better off without humans around, we’re all screwed anyways.)
