I have an unsupported theory that some of the best alpha lies in counterintuiatve ideas. For example:
- a productivity increase can be harmful
- being good at suffering (i.e. handling suffering with grace) can lead to you being a happier person.
In his essay On Doing the Right Thing, author Albert Jay Nock writes:
"The point is that any enlargement, good or bad, reduces the scope of individual responsibility, and thus retards and cripples the education which can be a product of nothing but the free exercise of moral judgment."
The "enlargement" is in reference to the effect of expansion of laws.

@semisol, @HoloKat, and @nobody have all, at different points, reminded me of an character, Princess Donut, in an audiobook series called Dungeon Crawler Carl.
I've been using jetbrains products because of my job, it's been steadily growing on me. Whenever I do solo dev work I just nvim, but if I am honest I like having a lot of the features an IDE provides. But at the same time I feel like their is less privacy.
