Update 5 on the Viking woodcarving - extraordinarily pleased with the result of the painting session... Please give me some feedback!
Update 4 on the Viking bust I'm carving out basswood... See if you can spot the refinements made to my last post ..
Update 3 on the viking bust I've been carving. Have added layers and texture to the hair, definition to the face and eyes. Hat detail added and horns of helmet refined. Pelt around shoulders has begun to be formed. Extremely happy with the progress on this model!
Update 2 on the viking bust I'm carving from basswood. Added some hair structure and texture. Now need to work on the ears and refining the hair. Eyes need to be carved and nose shaped.
Viking bust I'm currently carving out of basswood, how's it looking folks?
I have recently been commissioned to carve some characters from a 1980s cartoon called David the Gnome, the customer is delighted with my efforts so I'd like to show them off and get some feedback!
Miniature Santa wood carving finished, and painted. Stands about 2.5in x 1in. Really feel like I'm beginning to understand angles and carving in the 3D, not just flat plane. Let me know what you think!
Little wooden viking carved from basswood, unfinished as it hasn't been oiled or sanded. Particularly happy with the horned helmet as prior efforts have resulted in the wood fracturing. Loosely based on Hagar the horrible cartoon character ))
Wizard with staff carved from European linden wood, standing 6in tall. Not oiled or sanded yet. Happy with my progress in understanding angles of cut, and how 3d carving differs from 2d. Marks out of 10?
Large Santa I carved from English limewood, approximately 5.25in x 2in. Happy with the progress I'm making on different limb positions and detail as seen in his arms holding the sack of presents on his back and gifts in the bag )) What do you think?
Little line up of a few of the finished woodcarved pumpkins, everyone seems to have a different favourite, personally my fave is the middle one, what's yours? Finished in acrylic paint and carved from basswood image
Two more Halloween pumpkins carved and painted ready for sale! Which one is best?
