Last week, I was down in Yuma at the Arizona-Mexico Border. In 2021, under 94 executive orders, our government has enabled the migration of an estimated 10M to cross our borders without papers. With no guidance from the federal government, the border towns were (and still are) left to deal with this all on their own. A small group of local citizens, through the heroic leadership of @jwlines , self-organized when the masses started coming. Amanda Aguirre's community health center, changed their entire operating model to support the processing of migrants - Over 200K - at just her center alone. They want it to stop now because they cannot continue living like this. It has passed the tipping point. Thank you @CClemOfficial for letting me see this up close. We the people transcend party lines. Our leadership needs to start figuring that out now. Watch this clip from the day - more coming soon.

.@CBS just sent this to me: “I have received a letter from Rep. Ro Khanna, intended for Nicole Shanahan, urging her to step down as RFK Jr.'s running mate. In the letter, Rep. Khanna warns Shanahan that supporting Kennedy could aid Trump's return to the White House and have negative environmental consequences. According to Khanna, Shanahan sought his advice before accepting Kennedy's offer. CBS News plans to publish this story tomorrow morning. If you would like to comment, please note that my deadline is this evening.” This is my full response to CBS (I want to bring this discussion back to the people, because I am beholden to you the people and not the corporate press): "In my conversation with Ro he congratulated me on the position and encouraged me to run, stating that every American has the right to run in this country. He stated that we live in a democracy, and it was wrong for anyone to threaten me against running. Clearly, Ro has changed his stance based on pressure from the party. I hope he understands how anti-democratic it is to ask someone to step down from a race that empowers the American public to make their own decisions. I am very disappointed that he has been pressured into issuing this letter to me publicly. He could have called me privately. He has my direct line."

Words are sacred and powerful. I couldn't imagine telling anyone who is hurting to "get over yourself" - no less the American Public for whom you serve as a leader (and who is paying for your life in taxes). Leadership qualities I look for: sincere, understanding, intelligent, grateful, careful with words, hard working, and deeply respectful. In other words: @RobertKennedyJr It is a THREE-WAY RACE. We are here to bring the vote back to the people.

My mom came to this country under President Carter’s diplomatic efforts with China. This is immigration policy! Had she been coerced into an underground human trafficking network, God only knows what horrors she would have endured. Our current failure to secure the border and stop the flow of cartel business is not policy, it is a betrayal to every American and every person who is law abiding.

Moms are the unsung heroes of our society. They juggle it all without fanfare or accolades. They do it for the love of their children — a love greater than any other. Waking up to the realities of the chronic health epidemic is painful because it is hard to fathom that our government has ignored the signs for so long. It is hard to stomach that our political system is stacked so unevenly when it comes to supporting the freedom of science to question the "why." Before getting on stage last week, I was worried if I was tough enough for the job. People warned that "they" would "tear me apart." I sometimes think that the "they" everyone is worried about just hasn't had time to find their way to the truth yet. I have deep faith they one day will.

I’ll be honest: I didn’t understand the gravity of the crisis at the border until today when I sat with NGO leaders who are on the front lines in Yuma Arizona. This is a human trafficking crisis impacting the lives of millions. The good people of Yuma are shouldering the costs. This should not be a political issue because maintaining a border is a fundamental duty of a sovereign nation. Doesn’t matter what your political party is - this is your job if you’re in government. In 2024, we can begin to solve issues that should have never divided the nation in the first place. It looks like the following: 1. separating immigration policy from border security (they are two separate functions). 2. utilizing all the latest in border technology (sensing technologies, fences/walls where appropriate, border patrol where appropriate). 3. Working with our diplomatic partners in Latin America and abroad to provide legal paths for Immigration. I learned today people are flying into Mexico from all over the world to be escorted, often by cartels, to our border gaps. Together, @RobertKennedyJr , and I will expand lawful and fair immigration. Heal the divide. It will ripple throughout the world. Grateful to @CClemOfficial @JWLines and the Yuma community.
