Venezuela: Bitcoin mining machines found at the biggest & most dangerous prison So It's a pretty long story, actually. Venezuela has nothing to envy to a epic Netflix movie. The Tocorón Prison is the biggest & more dangerous prison from Venezuela. From there, a criminal organization named "Tren de Aragua" operates most of the crime in the central region in the country, but with the recent migration crisis they've managed to spread their tentacles all over South America, including countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Chile. "Tren de Aragua" means the train of Aragua, a province of Venezuela. It refers to an old unfinished & abandoned train construction workers sindicate that evolved into this criminal and prolific organization. The Tocoron prison was like a criminal citadel. Let me explain: they had a neighborhood for family and friends, a club where international artists presented their shows, a pool with park and recreation for kids, a farm with exotic animals and guess what... a Bitcoin mining facility INSIDE THE PRISON. The Tocoron prison is located nearby the San Vicente industrial area, where many companies closed shop thanks to fucking communism & Bitcoin miners took their place to do their thing, taking advantage of industrial facilities and cheap energy. Some of these mining entrepeneurs have been working there since around year 2014. Many of them are legit, I can say. Some others are corrupt politicians, army officials and whatnot. So it's not a surprise that yesterday, when the government decided to raid the prison, they fund several Bitcoin mining equipment in there. As I said, this is a heavy material for a script writer to make a Netflix movie or series. Anyway, check the media coverage of this chapter in my crazy crazy country. Nostr APIs like Primal, Iris and SnortSocial are buggy, at least in my experience. How such incredible developers could make something like Nostr while having these kind of buggy interfaces and web apps? That's beyond comprehension for me, that's for sure. But I'd still like to know if I'm doing something wrong. I have two questions for you, dear Nostr user that reads me: 1. What's the best Nostr learning/resources page out there? 2. How can I have my own customized username both in Primal & Iris? I try to set it everytime I can but it just don't work at all. (Am I using the wrong browser? Do I have to clean up cookies or something?) Good evening! Hope you can read me. I'll be looking forward to your answers.

SUMMER CLEANUP So I scrolled down & cleaned my list of follows today. I've found many unactive accounts from bitcoiners that decided to opt-out from Xwitter, even before Elon took charge of it. Others are no longer working at the same companies/projects they were into when I met them, and now they're working on their personal projects, some of them still undisclosed. It's been a brutal bear market, so many people had changed jobs mostly due to shortages, but they seem to have realized a job is only a place you go to learn until you feel ready to be an entrepeneur and take full responsability of your income, purpose & means of life, approaching yourself to be a sovereign individual. On the other hand, even when we bitcoiners love communities & gather into conferences as much as we can, must of us are prone to be reclusive and associal. And in some cases, like the ones of bitcoin developers or any other volunteering job, you can get desillusioned real quick. I don't blame them. It's like even when #Bitcoin represents hope in this troubled world, there's always a moment you lose it & start to take life changing decisions according to your newly adjusted vision of the world. Believe me, I also see things I don't like about the Bitcoin ecosystem, like over compliant KYC companies, state lobbyists, low adoption rate, little support for real bitcoin projects, expensive & flashy conferences and more. But I've learned to also feel inspired of what surrounds me. My friends, colleagues, partners here in El Salvador, and others in the world doing awesome things. Sometimes you just have to take a break, have some wine and talk about life with your friends, not only because is an essential part of friendship but because talking all day about Bitcoin is boring and you don't get to know a person just by staying into that topic. Last weekend I did and felt grateful about it. I'm blessed to be here. As usual, I took a photo to never forget it. San Salvador sunrise. Raw. No edits needed. Cheers! 🍷😉✨ ⚡criptoluis@8333.mobi ⚡criptoluis@getalby.com ⚡criptoluis_@blink.sv image

CriptoLuis x WatchOut! Bitcoin From Geyser.Fund npub1kmwdmhuxvafg05dyap3qmy42jpwztrv9p0uvey3a8803ahlwtmnsnhxqk9 Hello! My name is Luis David Esparragoza. I'm a Bitcoin journalist with 7 years of experience in this niche; born in Venezuela and living in El Salvador. This campaign has one goal: *to attend the WatchOut Bitcoin 2023 conference*, where I will be doing journalistic coverage and also participating in a panel about Bitcoin and media. The WatchOut Bitcoin 2023, or WoBitcoin!, will be held in Madrid, Spain, on October 6, 7 and 8. With your help, I will manage to make photos, videos, reports, exclusive news and interviews with the prominent personalities in Bitcoin that will attend this conference, as I have done in past opportunities. image Interview with Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Tether, for BeINCrypto Español, during the Adopting Bitcoin conference. November 2022, El Salvador. image With Samson Mow, then CTO of Blockstream, now CEO of JAN3, in November 2022, El Salvador, for CriptoNoticias. image Among devalued bills. Bitcoin Conference Miami 2021. This is not a donation campaign, but an exchange between me and the community, and that is why I am committed to delivering value back. I have decided to set the goal of this campaign at USD 2,000 in bitcoin, to cover the cost of the airfare plus some miscellaneous expenses, including transportation to and from the airport and event venues, food, taxes, some accessories for my equipment and of course, charging for my professional services. The cost of the airfare is around USD 1300 at the moment, but we know that is variable according to many factors.Of course, I will be looking for the cheapest ticket possible. What do I offer in return? Professional photos of the event: Unlimited amount. 1 video tour of the event: To get in the mood.1 video summary of the conference: for your memories. 1 Podcast summary per day: to comment on each day of the conference (with possible special guests!) LIVE coverage on Twitter and Nostr (Live Tweets & Notes): so you don't miss anything that happens in real time!+5 Interviews with personalities: no less than 5 exclusive interviews with WoBitcoin's most prominent personalities! What's next? The goal is to get to WoBitcoin 2023, but many things can happen going forward. I would like to do meetups, workshops and collaborations with other brands and individuals. Spain has a vibrant Bitcoin community and I know we can have some unforgettable days. Some of these ideas I will be announcing in due time and to realize them the support of the community will be crucial. THANK YOU! Hello I'm currently testing different Nostr interfaces & tools to see how I can use this protocol more. Some of these tools & APIs are still too slow or lack of a friendly user experience. But the future is built by innovators, those who take the time to learn and experiment enough to improve things by try and failure. When I first heard about Nostr I knew it was a simple technology with a huge potential. I still believe it and I know there are many different utilities and improvements being developed all around the world to make it better. Even though there's still so much more to achieve, I can see this is going fast and it puts Nostr closer to achieve mainstream adoption. If not, we will have a very resilient and strong tool to communicate & share information still, and that's ok. I'm not a developer nor programmer. I'm a journalist focused in Bitcoin, specially in it's techonology rather than economics or cultural issues. It's been almost 7 years working in the space & came to learn A LOT about what is Bitcoin and how it works. There's still so much to learn about it & Nostr is definitely another rabbit hole, another universe (thus connected to Bitcoin), which requires a sustancial amount of time to understand. I'm currently doing photography, social media & marketing stuff for other clients also, so you'll understand that I don't have too much free time, specially for social media, which fortunately I'm rejecting more and more everyday in its current form. Ideally, social media is made intended to put something out to the world, not to scroll eternally and dirty your mind with nonsensical opinions or biased news. But sooner or later I know I will find myself doing news coverage of Nostr stuff, or looking to make a more healthy use of social media through this protocol. Currently, traditional social media it's not a safe space for mental health, so I'm looking to run away from the algorithm and built a feed that gives me what I need. And I want to give the Nostr community what it needs also. So, to end up this Saturday morning rant, I'd like you to share with me your insights about Nostr, what are the best tools & sources to learn about its technology. What do you think is needed right now in the space? How can I help? How Nostr can help me improve my journalistic work? I hope your relay shows you this message. Can't wait to read your responses. Love, Luis PD: Tried to send this message with Primal.net unsuccessfully, after Snort.Social gave me some issues too, but I couldn't. Lastly, I tried Iris and it seems to work. Let me know if you can read this! Zaps are welcome too, so I can keep investing time in this.
