bitcoin brings a decentralized persistence for transactional data
smart contracts make it more general and domain-focused
IPFS solve the challenge with storing big amounts of data but struggle with privacy and incentives
FileCoin make thing better with incentives but force user to pay for data
Ceramic networks add a permission layer, but still trust relay on the network provider
Definity moves the cost of storage from the user to apps and allows to do full encryption inside a network
DWN tackles the problem from a different angle and offer relay-based topology with permission, encryption, and sync
Persistence is critical not only for Dapps but for AI agents that could require massive storage for data

Verifiable credentials is not the end of the story and #ssi is not self contained goal. SSI is a philosophy and principles. SSI tools like did , vc , vp , trust tasks - all this is enablers and instruments for something biggerand cool . Don’t sell #ssi as a end product. I have seen this story for few years . I was a part of this story for long time . Not all information should be vcfied , probably majority or user and sovereign data is not strictly about VCs but user for sure will need a systems that build on top of #SSI , #FAIR and data centric #protocols that will pool out users from apps prisons.
So what does Next LinkedIn look like, and how #SSI could help there?
- Social Networks is more about relations of relations, not about content
- You are not a stranger who follows others. You do something for other people every day. We need tools that express this relation with a context of skills and actions and your contributions.
- The data about your relations form a Personal Knowledge Graph where you are the center. This data should belong to you and be owned by you. It prevents a situation where the platform locks you and creates new opportunities in different domains like learning, self-improvement, etc.
- Personal Graphs are interconnected and form a HyperGraph as a core of the social network. It is a better way to model the real world.
- #SSI could make it end verifiable and help with identity and verifiable data
