What an epic weekend in Nashville. The energy, excitement, and innovation of this community reminds me of the early days of the internet in the best way possible. Perhaps what surprised and impressed me most about these musicians and builders was the lack of ego, creating a spirit of collaboration over competition. This meeting of the minds might just change the trajectory of how we create and share music for years to come. Leveraging technology to exchange value is a heck of a lot more fun and interesting than being exploited by centralized platforms in an algorithmic race to the bottom. I started dipping my toes into Nostr and uploading tunes on Wavlake just a few short weeks ago, with little understanding and no expectations. Now it’s clear that the paradigm is shifting rapidly, and incumbent platforms like Spotify could be rendered obsolete thanks to this motley crew of early adopters, artists, and builders. Are we blaming red meat and butter for the problems vegetable oil caused? Contrary to popular belief, there is no correlation between either saturated fat or animal fat and heart attacks.
