🍇 Grapevine, 🧠⚡️Brainstorm
I’m working on Brainstorm now so that the owner of the instance can set it up to calculate personalized WoT scores for friends. Later, for customers.
Graph databases like #neo4j really do make certain tasks a lot easier than if we were limited to sql or other non-graph dbs. Here’s the neo4j cypher query that I use to update the number of hops away any given pubkey is from a customer node on the follows graph. I just iterate this same query 8 or 9 times until numUpdates is zero and it’s done.
MATCH (c1:NostrUserWotMetricsCard {observer_pubkey:’${CUSTOMER_PUBKEY}'})-[:SPECIFIC_INSTANCE]-(:SetOfNostrUserWotMetricsCards)-[:WOT_METRICS_CARDS]-(u1:NostrUser)-[:FOLLOWS]->(u2:NostrUser)-[:WOT_METRICS_CARDS]->(:SetOfNostrUserWotMetricsCards)-[:SPECIFIC_INSTANCE]->(c2:NostrUserWotMetricsCard {observer_pubkey:'${CUSTOMER_PUBKEY}'})
WHERE c2.hops - c1.hops > 1 SET c2.hops = c1.hops + 1
RETURN count(c2) as numUpdates
how can I mark a report for deletion?

Possibly the greatest scene from Andor.
“I burn my decency for someone else’s future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see.
… So what do I sacrifice?
EVERYTHING!”
I’ve been focused on non-nostr stuff for a few weeks. Hope today to get my head back into nostr for a while 🤓
Listening to the latest All-In Pod. On the topic of what new revolutionary product Apple should introduce, Friedberg says Apple should introduce a personalized, ephemeral AI product that works across all Apple devices. I’m thinking: perhaps this is exactly what Brainstorm should strive to become. Which is what, exactly?
Brainstorm: a personalized WoT nostr relay, curated with the help of your Grapevine, organized into a knowledge graph, paired with an AI assistant that helps you navigate the resulting, potentially vast pile of data.
The thing that would set Brainstorm apart from the competition is the extra trust you’ll have in the data. My primary contention is that the knowledge graph must be organized using a small handful of principles that facilitate and optimize its interaction with your WoT, i.e. with other Brainstorms or other similarly-organized products.
The kool-aid theory of social cohesion:
People demonstrate allegiance to a tribe by drinking tribal kool-aid. The more offensive the kool aid is to outsiders, the greater the demonstration of allegiance.
Internalization of tribe-specific delusions and hypocrisies becomes interpreted by the tribe as virtue. Virtue signaling = drinking the kool aid as publicly as possible.
This explains why brilliant people sometimes double down on their delusions and hypocrisies.
I’m just starting to listen to Jordan Peterson and Gad Saad discuss “Why do smart people double down on bad ideas?” I’m betting their explanation does NOT encompass Kool-Aid Theory. Why not? Because no one wants to admit that we ALL do this, under normal circumstances, to some extent.

The second half of Andor season 2 is a contender for the best Star Wars of all time. Really outstanding.
