Inshore fishing in the Gulf of America
I never would have thought that my first catch from the bayou would be a blue crab. Catch and release, but unfortunately he lost a claw, and I lost my lure two casts later. image
With the cooler weather, fishing is picking up again. Today I caught 7 bluegill and a smallmouth bass. image
One of the easiest rigs to get started with fishing is a nightcrawler beneath a bubble float. This rig helps to eliminate snags from rocks, limbs, and weeds on the bottom, and can catch a wide variety of fish species. image
Trying out Amethyst on Android, it feels faster when loading content then Primal. Thanks for the reccomendation @7fqx
Gar fish can be hard to catch. They do not have lips for your hook to pierce, and their mouths are armored with teeth and bone. Gar will grab onto your bait and swim away before they swallow, so it is best to keep your bale open to allow your line to unwind. Once it seems the gar has swallowed its meal, close your bale and set the hook. Gar have been around since the Triassic period, over 240 million years. This is a Spotted Gar I caught in Louisiana in May. image
I caught a nice Rainbow Trout at Flaming Gorge using a Berkley flicker crank bait I found on the shore. image
