Nostr challenge: find an up-to-date article that explains Nostr for someone who knows nothing about it and wants to know what it is (and uses Bluesky/Instagram/Facebook currently). But without any BTC, protocol, free speech, censorship resistance etc. stuff. Just like you would explain Snapchat or similar product. I could not find any with a quick googling. Nor I found any get started guide that was not filled with protocol etc talk. Nostr. com, nost.how are all about tech. News coverage is mainly from last year and from those topical angles.

Bsky is weird. A ”blocked post” was the parent skeet that I did not see but the replies to it were visible. The account I used did not have anyone blocking it nor was it part of any blocking list. Was the post / user blocked by the Bluesky instance?

This feature is for all you luddites who want to post first to X. Now you can get that out of your system without leaving the app and the next second get to the real deal. Apple is slow to review betas on Testflight so you just have to sit on your hands and stop staring at the laser-eyes tweet for now.

”The advantages are that Ukrainian units get new soldiers who already have more training than Ukrainian recruits have time for. "These guys are battle-hardened, they know how to function out there in the trenches, but they're civilians who became soldiers out of necessity, they're not trained army men. The average Ukrainian soldier doesn't get much training time."

”a pair of lightweight AR glasses powered by a multimodal AI assistant called Noa… In addition to voice commands, Noa is capable of visual processing, image generation and translation, thanks to the handful of AI models it has integrated: conversational search engine Perplexity AI; Stability AI’s text-to-image model Stable Diffusion; OpenAI’s latest text-generation model GPT4; and the speech recognition system Whisper Frame’s lenses have a resolution of 640 x 400 for displaying videos and photos.”

”Russia’s war is not about NATO, or borders, or the balance of power. The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin intends to absorb Ukraine into a new Russian empire, and he will eradicate the Ukrainians if they refuse to accept his rule. Europe is in the midst of the largest war on the continent since Nazi panzers rolled from Norway to Greece, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine is by far the most important threat to world peace since the worst days of the Cold War”

”The FDF will also conduct logistics exercises and activate so-called production reserve agreements with civilian companies that keep extra capacity in place for the defense forces’ needs in crisis and war — akin to a war economy lite. In this pre-conflict period, sufficient availability and production capacity of everything from food supplies to machinery is tested with sustained warfighting in mind, as seen in Ukraine.”

The lesson here is that core privacy products you use should be only true open-source or this happens? ”As we begin to shift focus to our shared efforts with Notion, we will be closing down Skiff's product suite after a 6-month sunset period”

Guess what happens to the world’s chip production capability when Russia attacks the EU? ”ASML is the only maker of a key technology - extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photolithography - needed to manufacture the most advanced chips… Koch's own calculations suggested it would only become cost effective to switch over from the older technology around 2030-2031…. "This means ASML is likely to have excess High-NA capacity between their factory ramp in 2027-28 and full adoption in leading-edge logic a few years later," he added.”
