With all the intense debate on OP_RETURN, worth mentioning that on ethereum, the major "Pectra" update has shoehorned 15 random things into the chain by decree. People are predicting some major risks and vulnerabilities from some of these updates which will be interesting to see unfold. image

Can I just say, I find it incredible how climate change has been smoothly swapped out for AI as an existential financial risk for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. I was having a long talk with a friend yesterday about this. Both climate change and AI have elements of truth to them, but in the popular mind they have actually been taken further to fill the human need for apocalyptic myth-making and redemption which is as old as time. image

🎧 I am joined by Carmen Lau is a former Hong Kong District Councillor who was forced to resign by the government and later fled Hong Kong to the UK where she lives in exile. She is a pro-democracy and freedom advocate with the Hong Kong Democracy Council and a Freedom Fellow with the Human Rights Foundation and is wanted by the Hong Kong police with a $1 million Hong Kong dollar bounty being offered for information leading to her arrest. We talk about freedom and self-determination and importantly what it means to lose freedoms that you once had. We also touch on China and the propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party.
Photography of unplaces. Somewhere in Tokyo. Instagram does not want me to upload this image for some reason so maybe I can get some zaps here instead? image
🎧 Latest pod is out. I talk with Sovereign Origin ( @Sovereign Origin 🥕 ) about his concept FITS (Financially Independent, Time Sovereign) a new alternative to the traditional FIRE movement (Financially Independent, Retire Early). While both approaches aim to escape the “rat race,” FITS redefines the pursuit of financial independence through the lens of Bitcoin, focusing on sovereignty over one’s time with a unique perspective towards wealth, work, and life. We had a great talk about the FITS concept, exploring some of the technical aspects, as well as some of the challenges inherent in the traditional FIRE approach which is built on the premise of the ongoing growth of the stock market and ultimately is not truely independent because the state can always come and turn off or confiscate your retirement fund – Something they can’t do with Bitcoin.
