Gm #coffeechain Doing chores early today because we are headed to Strong Roots Resources today and Tactical wanted to hit church on the way. Contemplating the tomato wall system today. We are building the last one to shield my house from summer sun next Sunday afternoon. We decided to do an open house/potluck for anyone who wants to see how this is done. The weird thing? This is a hydroponic system. I tossed compost tea in there 4 weeks ago along with Texas Tomato Food. Since that time these plants have gone from babies to almost as tall as my house AND I have added water but no more fertilizer. The nutrient count keeps going up. The plants look healthy. It has turned into a great experiment. What did I trigger and how did I trigger it?? Anyway the new wall will have a worm bin integrated and I'll see if we can go 100% compost tea and worm casting tea. Wanna come? JUNE 8, 1pm ct-4pm ct Rsvp here

Then when I got to the bar he wasn't there yet, the food was all carby, and the only wine on offer was sweet white wine. Blah. This place is mostly free of modern sounds unless a plane goes by and I never realized how loud the real world is until I left, then came home. Don't forget to find your peace. Sometimes you just need to take a moment, pause, and change the scenery. Tactical and I have been working hard to transform the homestead into a more integrated system. We have been repairing, changing, adding, subtracting, and building. Some things work great. Some choices make endless days of hard work with no break. We have darn near 100 hearts that depend on our success or failure here. Last week, we snuck away for an overnight backpack trip. The hike in was only four miles, but it was surprisingly challenging. And the phones did not work at all. In an emergency, someone would have had to send a runner!! That switch off was exactly what was needed. No notifications. No ability to just look something up real quick. No distractions. Just quiet (well not really quiet. It is a cicada year). Just peace. Just dark at night and light with the sun. We have a big thing to do soon. And sometimes, as much as you love your life, it is good to press pause. Catch your breath. And change the scene.
