Welcome to Mutiny Brewing, your local kombucha brewery with a twist! We're not just passionate about crafting delicious, probiotic-rich kombucha, but we're also committed to fostering strong independent communities. Our name, Mutiny Brewing, is a nod to the growing movement of decentralisation, a mutiny against centrally controlled entities that dictate money generation, food supply, media, and increasingly, our lives. We believe in the power of local communities to take control of their food, financial, and monetary independence. Join us in our mission to revolutionise the way we think about food, finance, and freedom.

Hannah from Kombucha Kamp, a leading authority on Kombucha, digs into the anecdotes, legends and science of Kombucha and it's use as a folk medicine to treat cancer. "Russia serves as backdrop for one of the most common Legends of Kombucha. (Note: We call these stories “Legends” not because we think they are false but because they come to us largely without proof, in a modern day sense.) The Russians, concerned with an increase in cancer rates post WWII, launched a full scale investigation. While increased pollution from industrialization was determined the likely culprit, there were two regions that were discovered to be nearly cancer free. Upon further study, it was determined that the people of these regions (the Solikamsk & Berezniki districts) had been drinking Tea Kvass (Kombucha) ever since the Czar had introduced it hundreds of years before." Though these stories are intriguing, Hannah keeps a level head and reminds us that "Kombucha is not a medicine intended to treat any disease. It is simply a healthy tonic that can be consumed daily and helps the body with its natural processes." "Kombucha is just a food. But we can all agree that consuming the right healthy foods for your body’s needs is a path to better health. And if those foods can help ameliorate the effects of everyday radiation we are experiencing, all the better" https://www.kombuchakamp.com/kombucha-radiation-emfs-research #kombucha #health #cancer #5G #radiation

"After comparing blood sugar averages between drinking kombucha or a placebo, they learned that just 4 weeks of drinking kombucha lowered fasting blood sugar levels before meals from 164 to 116 milligrams per deciliters (mg/dL) on average. For comparison, the American Diabetes Association says normal fasting glucose before meals is 80–130 mg/dL." https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/kombucha-may-help-control-blood-sugar-in-type-2-diabetes

Freedom Friday: The online public square https://m.primal.net/IYnQ.mov The internet promised to bring people and ideas together from all over the world in an open digital environment. However, the applications we use to access the web, such as search, marketplaces, streaming services, news, and social media, have been built on platforms that are owned and controlled by centralised entities. As the platforms have grown and gained importance in day to day life, so does their power and influence. Like the nobility of old, these unelected rulers have an enormous influence over what we can see and do online. The root of the problem with the conventional internet is all the trust that’s required to make it work. Platforms and servers must be trusted not to change anything you send, not to delete, to convey what you share to those who want to see it, and to show you what you want to see, but the history of the internet is full of breaches of this trust. Algorithms filter everything and show content that is profitable for the platform, keeping you addicted to what triggers your attention. The platforms are prone to censorship, as an operating company they can’t afford to display content objectional to any government or group capable of wielding influence. Everything is a rental, you don’t own your data, your digital identity is a rental. Data silos force you to stay, using the inconvenience of moving to force you to pay. Introducing the verifiable web. By using private/public key cryptography you can create an identity permissionlessly to verify everything you send by signing it with your private key. This signature can be verified by anyone with your public key. Thus removing the need for information to be conveyed by a trusted party. The job of relaying information and collecting and displaying content can be done by any server or client application. Your data is not the property of a company, its like a real world reputation, it goes with you wherever you go. Having an open identity allows the development of a social graph, which builds a web of trust. What problem is the social graph solving? The answer is many, in many different ways and forms. It can be used as a defense mechanism against impersonation, as a way to prevent DoS attacks, to facilitate social discovery and connections, and to calculate more accurate ratings and reviews. When you have an open, public social graph and the ability to filter spam, the incentives change to the point where the advertising industry gets fixed. Yes, advertising will still be a thing, but you won't be forced to watch ads because you can't be captured. Companies that optimize for attention will be disrupted by those that optimize for value. The spirit of building the world you want to see is what inspired us to create Mutiny Brewing. So come and join us. If you have an Android we recommend downloading the app Amethyst and if you have apple we recommend the app Damus, both aps are social media clients, we hope to explore other stuff apps in future installments. Both apps can be found in the app store or you can get them directly from the zap store, an app store built using the web of trust model (more on this later). https://cdn.zap.store/f22d1bc0c4e27032ce9e9e1761a35f9b80ae9c47ac6923c7612033e9805acfb8.apk If you are in Townsville, we will give a bottle of kombucha to the first 20 Townsville residents to reach out to us here. And remember to write down your private key and keep it safe, because there is no way to reset your password. If you lose it its gone forever. #nostr #weboftrust #fediverse #Kombucha #Townsville #AUStrich

Freedom Friday: Cypherpunks write code In the early 1990s a group of mathematicians misfits hackers and hobbyists came together around a shared belief that the internet would either demolish artificial walls or lay the groundwork for an orwellian state. They saw a branch of mathematics called cryptography as a weapon against central planning and surveillance in this new virtual world. The national security agency declared the unrestrained public discussion of cryptographic research threatened national security. The cypherpunks saw it as the critical fork in the road for the future of human freedom. This documentary delves into the fascinating story of a movement that foresaw both the promise and peril of the internet era. It explores how these visionaries sought to build a world where human freedom could thrive, despite the challenges that lay ahead. Watch this captivating film to learn more about the cypherpunks' journey and their lasting impact on our digital society. This weekend's project has been reconditioning and converting an old keg to use for the secondary fermentation flavouring step. The keg is much more space efficient than the current fermenter, which takes up the space of 4 kegs in the freezer. The kombucha and fruit will be added and left for one or 2 days to infuse, before chilling. The yeast and fruit will settle to the bottom, the float and strainer will ensure the Kombucha transferred doesn't contain any solids. This allows us to transfer under pressure keeping carbonation and avoiding any contaminants. image

In this week's Freedom Friday, we explore two groundbreaking technologies – the printing press and gunpowder – that radically transformed our world by altering incentives for violence and control in opposite directions. As we stand on the precipice of another grand political shift into the Information Age, understanding these historical innovations can help us make informed decisions about technology today to shape a better future. The printing press empowered individuals by enabling the widespread dissemination of knowledge and ideas, to challenge established authority. Martin Luther and John Calvin, among other reformers, leveraged this newfound power to spread their theological beliefs at a popular level, exposing corruption within the church. As a result, the costs of maintaining control increased for the Catholic Church, paving the way for greater religious freedom. The printing press democratised access to information and knowledge, fostering an environment conducive to critical thinking and challenging established norms – ultimately decreasing the incentives for religion to be used as a tool of control. At the same time there were larger macro political changes a foot in Europe. Gunpowder vastly amplified the destructive power of weapons, making offensive warfare more deadly and less costly. The gunpowder revolution increased the incentive for commanders to deploy larger forces on the battlefield. Castle walls crumbled, kingdoms merged into nations, and empires grew as a result. The introduction of firearms was not only a profound discontinuity in technological development but also had far-reaching consequences beyond the military sphere. It laid the foundation for the emergence of national states and the industrial age by reshaping the economic incentives of violence. Once more, we find ourselves on the precipice of a grand political shift in the dynamics of violence and control. As value is more and more generated and stored within cyberspace —a domain oblivious to geographical boundaries and untainted by gunpowder—the rewards reaped from violent conflict are set to diminish. Conversely, data collection and the expansion of influence present unparalleled avenues for control. "In the information age, it's not just whose army wins, but whose story wins." Joseph Nye, Former United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. The transformation from Mediaeval society into the Industrial Age was determined by incentives that set a new course for humanity. Similarly, in our current Information Age, it's the technology we choose to use that shapes the incentives driving us forward. Our decisions today have the power to shape the world of tomorrow – and this is why we are so passionate about technologies of freedom. The collapse of the Berlin Wall was perhaps the defining moment in history marking the transition from the Industrial Age to the Information Age, one can't help but feel the hopeful spirit and exhilaration that comes with experiencing such a transformative period firsthand. This sentiment is beautifully captured in the song "Right Here, Right Now," by Jesus Jones, which serves as an anthem for those living through this pivotal time. https://youtu.be/MznHdJReoeo?si=Wa2FCxw0rH8s5t2n #Technology #FOSS #Reformation #SovereignInduvidual #revoution #InformationAge #Freedom

Welcome to our first instalment of Freedom Friday, where we put the mutiny in Mutiny Brewing by shining spotlight on freedom technology. Embracing freedom technologies contributes positively to society by promoting individual autonomy, innovation, competition, and democratic values. It is essential for individuals to take responsibility for their digital footprint and actively seek ways to protect their privacy in today's increasingly interconnected and digital world. Today, we're diving into the world of payments. As we move to digital payments we increasing find ourselves in a society where people dont transact directly with each other. Instead each transaction is via an intermediary. This shift raises important questions about privacy, security, and control over our financial data. Bitcoin eliminates the need for a central authority like banks in transactions. It uses blockchain technology to maintain a secure and transparent ledger of all transactions. However, there are some limitations in its current form: transaction fees can range from around $1 up to dozens depending on network congestion; privacy may be compromised as transaction data is publicly available; and final settlement for transactions takes approximately 10 minutes due to block confirmation times. These factors make Bitcoin less suitable for everyday transactions compared to traditional payment methods. The Bitcoin Lightning Network is a second-layer solution built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain that enables faster and more efficient transactions by creating off-chain channels between users. These channels allow multiple transactions between two parties without updating the blockchain until they decide to close the channel. The network consists of interconnected channels that enable transactions to be routed through multiple channels until they reach their destination instantly. However, there are limitations such as liquidity availability, channel size, and both parties needing to be online at the same time. As a result, many users rely on large custodians to manage payment channels for ease of use, essentially swapping one intermediary for another. This brings us to Cashu. Based on chaumian eCash it brings cash like privacy to Bitcoin held by a custodian. Just like bank notes, the provider doesn't have a view into your wallet, can't take your ecash, and can't stop you from transacting with others. Cashu allows, instant, cheap, reliable and private digital transactions. Watch this space. Here is Cashu creator nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg explaining this developing protocol. https://youtu.be/cit4-edRl70?si=uUfPE2hPsc_tseCt Learn more at https://cashu.space/
