Next job is replacing the NBN NTD backup battery. These are designed to be user replaceable and it is easy to do. From what I’ve heard, the charging circuit in these is not good so the batteries don’t last as long as they should and I don’t think NBN supply the battery backup units by default anymore but they do keep the NTD powered for several hours if power is lost so it is worth replacing the battery. image View quoted note →

Boxing Day morning spent fixing things around home. Washers replaced in 3 taps, the original ones had badly deteriorated so the taps would either not turn on or water would run very slowly.

This might be a useful tip for anyone trying to avoid seed oils and other ultra processed ingredients but still want to enjoy cheesecake once in a while - use shortbread biscuits for the base. I found it was easy to buy shortbread biscuits made with just flour, butter, sugar and salt, whereas most other manufactured biscuits seem to be made with vegetable oils and other artificial ingredients. The shortbread biscuit base held together well and tasted great. It doesn’t exactly turn cheesecake into a health food but these types of ingredient swaps for better options are worthwhile and can often improve the taste. View quoted note →

I have some family coming over for dinner tonight so made a ricotta cheesecake. First time trying this recipe, it is a little thin as I didn’t have the right size dish but otherwise seems to have worked out well and should taste good. image

Two years ago I joined Nostr. It has been an interesting two years watching this protocol develop, the clients becoming more advanced and stable, and all of the “other stuff” that has been built. With Nostr I’ve found a place I can freely share things than interest me and have found some amazing people with similar interests and views on life. Unlike other social media, I’ve found that Nostr isn’t a place where some people create content and others consume whatever the algorithm pushes. Interactions on Nostr are much more authentic, there are many deep discussions going on about a range of different topics, and plenty of humour. It actually has the social component that most other “social” media has lost. Thank you to all the developers, relay operators, media host operators and everyone who posts on here for making this place possible. It will be very interesting to see what the next two years brings!
