Got involved with setting up infrastructure on AWS for a fresh startup. Used claude code to do much of the detailed finagling and write terraform and docs on everything. HOLY SHIT. This would have taken me a week, perhaps two to fully do and validate the old way. With claude I have done the majority of it in 5 or 6 hours and it would have been even faster id I had written a full spec up front instead of winging it and changing my mind on a few things.

These sites are on top of an existing network of more than 200 detention facilities, including tent camps like Camp East Montana and “Alligator Alcatraz,” which have been cited for dozens of violations and reports of abuse, medical neglect, and overcrowding. With new funding from the 2025 “One Big Beautiful Bill,” ICE capacity is on track to nearly double, from about 70,000 to potentially 150,000 people locked up at one time, overwhelmingly in for‑profit facilities. How it matches the old “conspiracy theory” Journalists and historians are now explicitly describing this as a system of mass incarceration of civilians outside the ordinary legal process, with warehouse‑scale sites and tent cities whose stated purpose is to enable faster mass deportations. ​ The key elements people used to call “tin‑foil hat” ideas—repurposed prisons and warehouses, large‑scale camps in the desert, legal gray zones where people can effectively disappear for months—are all now documented features of U.S. immigration enforcement. The world of AI, robots, automation is very two-faced. On one hand there is all the excitement about purported hyper-abundance just around the corner and life of plenty for all. OTOH we act as our evolved psychology leads us to that Scarcity is the base reality. So if each individual doesn't scratch just the right itch that won't be replaced overnight then so sad, too bad for them. On the one hand the big beautiful dream and on the other hand complete uncaring can't afford to care because there is not enough, never enough and well it is too bad. This is a very explosive juxtaposition. It is a deep problem how humans overcome their evolved deep expectation of scarcity and do it fast enough. Otherwise we go out of our way to create scarcity even where there is abundance either fully present or easily in reach.
