The river Sǒca today, they call it the “Emerald River”. We traveled from Prijon and ended at Boca where there is a stunning waterfall. The rapids today were immense fun and some were a bit tricky to negotiate but you commit, paddle hard and make every stroke count. There are several of us on the trip and today only one capsize and needed to do a rescue. Ivet was laughing, she enjoyed filling in the icy cold river. That’s the thing - the temperature outside is 30+ degrees but the water is probably 8-10 degrees, so the risk of cold water shock is genuine. Hop in deliberately though it’s refreshing to say in the least. The bottom of the boat stays cold and kept my cockpit cool all the way. We saw plenty of trout today and Slavonian Grebe, might have been black-necked Grebe? Not sure. There was a mother and her chicks. Very cute. image

The river Sǒca in Slovenia. It’s stunning. I didn’t run any of it today in my kayak as we chose to go walking. Tomorrow we’ll go in! image

German/Austrian borders near Salzburg on our way to Slovenia. Hoping to find some of the things I saw whilst driving to photograph them. Every turning is a stunning view. Especially the road across the Italian/Slovenian border, oh my word that’s incredible. Lots of gear changes!! Lots of sheer drops!! image

A selection of photos from my morning walk just a few minutes ago. Dog roses are pretty. Lots of dead trees around here, reminds me of the Elms that got wiped out by disease in my childhood. Saw a swarm of honeybees! Remembered it’s bin day along the way!!

Started to set up a recording environment on my iPad to record some audio from my Hydrasynth. I’ll share this over the next few days. Exploring some evolving pads in conjunction with some beautiful chord progressions and melodies. The plan being to share a sample pack that you can buy right here. Experimenting!

Recorded a bunch of loops using Battalion, my favourite drum machine right now from Unfiltered Audio. Exploring the beta inside the beta for loopy pro 2. Cool stuff.

Took a little walk along a local river this morning, where the Blackwater meets the Loddon on the county border. Looking lush and green. I tried recording some sounds but took the wrong mic for the job. Good excuse to go back. Talking of audio, next post features some ideas I was playing with earlier. image

Testing out the incredible Battalion from unfiltered audio today which I’ve got running on TestFlight as a beta right now for the iPad. It’s available on desktop already. My favourite feature is the performance screen and the depth know which adjusts the amount of variance across all adjusted effected parameters. I think. Fills are great and the sequencer looks very good for more of a deep dive. I want to play this on the large speakers we’ve got over at the Westie for the next ModCaf meet-up.

We recently visited Cornwall for a few days and had a great time down there. One night we took a walk down to Newquay harbour and I just love these old fishing nets. They make a great subject for photography. We’re hoping to go back and spend another week there later in the summer. Love the place!
