Nostr has grown and matured a LOT over these last few years, but we still haven’t figured out how to drive adoption from “niche-and-nice-to-have” to the “must-have” disruptor that we all know Nostr can be. But NOW … we know 👇🏼 Catch my presentation at @NostrValley this month (in person or streaming live over Nostr) to learn why EVERY APP will be integrating Nostr as their SOCIAL LAYER … and how we can prepare to welcome them ALL. #nostrvalley

One of my first hires (when I can afford to hire) will be a full time position that does nothing but keep track of ALL the Nostr clients and relays (and any other apps and services) and the nips they make use of. #decentralized #whatazoo

Of course, Nostr clients and relays DO use WoT algos … and (sorry everyone) until developers manage to put these (and other tools) in the custody of the end user, Nostr actually DOES have gatekeepers. We have a ways to go, but we are headed toward full user sovereignty … more than ANY other protocol can claim. Come to @NostrValley and hear all about it. View quoted note →

Are there ANY zero-install signing apps for Nostr that offer self-custodial key generation AND redirect back to a requesting client? AFAIK @npub1uf9g...v8xc is the only one. #asknostr #nostrdev View quoted note →

FUN FACT : every Nostr client (currently) that allows for “sign up” … generates the new user keys internally. View quoted note →

Trust is not a feelz thang. Whoever doesn’t trust you (or want to trust you), can always get the law (or write a law) to come after your ass. In the legal sense, trust is NOT bound by what someone “would do” as much as what someone “can do”. If they “can” rug you then they can’t legally be trusted to NOT rug you. BEING OPEN SOURCE IS NOT ENOUGH, to prove that someone cannot rug you. EVEN CRYPTOGRAPHY IS NOT ENOUGH, unless it can be PROVEN that keys (and the key signing process) have NEVER BEEN IN CUSTODY of the entity requesting signatures.

MANY Nostr clients STILL have legal custody over your keys and your content. DEVELOPERS should know better … for their own sake! HERE’S HOW 👇🏼 View article →
