Of course, Nostr clients and relays DO use WoT algos … and (sorry everyone) until developers manage to put these (and other tools) in the custody of the end user, Nostr actually DOES have gatekeepers. Trust is not a feelz thang. Whoever doesn’t trust you (or want to trust you), can always get the law (or write a law) to come after your ass. In the legal sense, trust is NOT bound by what someone “would do” as much as what someone “can do”. If they “can” rug you then they can’t legally be trusted to NOT rug you. BEING OPEN SOURCE IS NOT ENOUGH, to prove that someone cannot rug you. EVEN CRYPTOGRAPHY IS NOT ENOUGH, unless it can be PROVEN that keys (and the key signing process) have NEVER BEEN IN CUSTODY of the entity requesting signatures.
