How is it to be expected Nostr will draw users from other social networks that are purpose built to trigger dopamine releases in their users? Genuinely curious what the argument is. Are we assuming migration out of necessity (I.e. censorship)? Some killer feature?

As someone who recently cut out nicotine after ~5 years of heavy use, I’ve observed the process of paring down traditional social media use is a startlingly similar process. Cravings, boredom, and anxiety are all present to a lesser degree. It’s both disturbing and empowering recognizing this and I plan to continue gradually closing traditional social media accounts. I firmly believe the “fake” dopamine spurred by the endless scrolling is a critical mechanism through which complacency develops and I’m intent on preventing that.
