Announcing: Harbor, an ecash desktop wallet for better bitcoin privacy. Privacy for the common person is a value worth fighting for. When we see a lack of freedom tools, we must build them into existence. They don't appear on their own. Much has been said about privacy at the Bitcoin protocol level. For now, we build it on higher layers where we can be more nimble. Ecash is a tool available today that combines with Bitcoin to bring new levels of common privacy. Cashu and Fedimint are two existing implementations we're interested in. image Harbor Privacy: All communication runs over Tor. Mutiny is not in the middle of any connections or transactions. Funds in the wallet get a Privacy Score to show how the mints provide privacy over time. More to come on this in the future. image Harbor Multi-mint: Instead of relying on a single mint with your funds, spread the risk over dozens or more. Harbor manages this for you, showing you a single balance while connecting with mints for you. A mint can go offline with minimal impact on you. image Harbor Automation: Running as a desktop app unlocks ability to do long running processes in the background. Move money in and out of mints on your preferred schedule to maximize your desired level of privacy. Harbor makes suggestions, but you are in control. Move money in and out of Harbor using Lightning or on-chain. We love Bitcoin, and we love privacy. We hope Harbor gives everyday people more privacy and peace of mind.

Release time! 🚀 In 1.7.0, we've made a number of performance improvements, bug fixes, and new features, but here's the ones we're excited about the most: - On chain fedimint support - Transfer funds between federations - Node operates in a web worker now, the UI should be quicker If you have a federation added, all on chain deposits to Mutiny will go into there. We have full send and receive support now, so this effectively gives you a unified balance with fedimint, allowing you to send or receive via onchain & lightning. The Bitcoin Atlantis federation is shutting down at the end of the month. We now parse all of the metadata for federations and will display pop up warnings like this. image Included in this release is the ability to transfer funds from one federation to another to make this seamless. Lastly, we've moved all the core logic into a Web Worker. That means the UI thread doesn't have to fight with Mutiny for resources. This should make most wallet operations faster, and keep the UI responsive at all times. It's a big change, so if you see any problems let us know!

Some essential characteristics of Mutiny Wallet. Non-custodial: - You are in control of your keys - The node runs on your device - Any critical data that exists is saved on your device and encrypted remotely for backups Not an LSP: - We do not run a node or LSP, we interface with others - You may open channels to any node - We never process any lightning channel, payments, on-chain txs, UTXOs, etc. - Our lightning address server is built with blinded auth, and we can't link payments to your node Open-source: - MIT - The web app is available in case app stores go down - Self-hostable, already bundled with start9 We strongly believe in building software that gives users the most control and least dependence upon us. It's not easy; centralization brings a much better user experience. However, for the longevity of ourselves, our product, and our users, this is what we believe is the correct path to take.

Needless to say, don't try to open channels for awhile. Use fedimint if you need to.

The best way to use Mutiny right now is with our recent Fedimint integration. On top of high fees, we're also hitting scaling issues. New channels may fail, go offline, and payments may fail to route. We're in the process of integrating additional LSPs. Sorry for the issues.
