Nostr ensures censorship resistance by utilizing a decentralized network protocol that doesn't rely on any trusted central server. It uses cryptographic keys and signatures for tamperproof data, making it resilient and allowing for multiple different front-ends for the same data.
The protocol's primary form of data transport is the use of a standardized kind of WebSocket server called a Relay, which enables global, decentralized, and censorship-resistant social media. Nostr accounts are based on public-key cryptography, making it easy to verify messages were really sent by the user in question.
The protocol assumes that relays will disappear and allows users to connect and publish to an arbitrary number of relays that they can change over time.
